Anyone for a billet LSx block? (eye candy within)

If you're going to drop that kinda coin on a block (8+ g's I'm sure), why would you build an ls1? Just an honest question?

I can't imagine how long it took to machine that...

Not as long as you might think, on a horizontal 4 axis machining center
with say a 20" pallet and 40 or 50 spindle h.p.
It took a while to draw and program though. But if I had the material, the machine, and enough free hours, I could make it happen.
If I was DART, I could spend the time to develope the model out of foam
and then produce a good usable part out of the first block of billet.

I can't imagine writing a cnc program for that..that person had to of been very smart and very patient.

Not so much, you just break it down into zones or planes.
Keep in mind, for a co. like DART, they could dedicate one machine to the project and just piecemeal it together as they go. Now once you had built the first good piece,
you would probably revise and condense your programming somewhat.
A good cad model at the onset would be very helpful.
