Anyone ever sued a union?

Basically, I filed a grievance against my employer. It's pretty cut and dry, the employer owes me money and they don't want to pay. Their M.O. has been for years to fight everything. My union was representing me (well sort of, I did all the leg and paperwork), then decided that it wouldn't benefit them to continue to fight for me. I plan to go after the city as well as the union for failing to represent, just wondering if anyone has been through anything like this. I've been told that I can go down to the Coleman A. Young building and they have some union board that deals with this kind of thing.

most likely it will have to go through arbitration. File the lawsuit then the judge will order it to go through arbitration which is in the 211 Fort Street Building (I think that's the address)

If you want a great employment law attorney, let me know. (not me)
