anyone ever file divorce w/out atty?

I'll have instructions for anyone that's doin' this w/out kids. It can be MUCH easier than they make it out to be.

My divorce was finalized this a.m. and it took all of 3 minutes in front of the judge (who was VERY considerate of the fact we were doing it w/out representation).

Reading the above book I mentioned was a big help. There was some additional documentation I needed to keep Friend of the Court of of things. Very straightforward process though.

Glad to hear it went smoothly. Divorce doesn't need to be any more complicated from a legal standpoint as it already is from the emotional/mental/financial point. If I recall correctly yours was pretty amicable(?) but even then, it can be hard sorting things out.

I've been through two divorces myself (I was raised in a cultish religion and got married young the first time) and I had to pay big bucks ($5000+) to settle the first one. What a waste! We didn't have kids, and neither did my second husband (whiney bitch that he was, that's almost debatable, LOL) and I. I wish I would have known about the book the first time around, I'd have been $5k richer! ;)

But seriously, that's good news, and here's to moving forward with the rest of your life! :badass:

Congrats! I had mine finalized Oct 10th. Feels like a weight off your shoulders, huh? Yeah it was not too bad, just a lot of forms that are needed. And getting those right is the tricky part. We had no lawyers but had a friend that works at an attorney's office that lent a hand.

A HUGE weight it feels like! Congrats back on success! We weren't the only one's in there today either. 3 other divorces going on in the first half hour of the docket.
