Anyone Else Flood Last Night?

We got it pretty bad here in Grosse Pointe Park. My wife is all excited for a basement remodel though! Looks like I am getting new Tig and Mig Welders too. I had three feet in my basement. Two houses down the basement is full to the first floor.

Dam that’s a lot of water, I seen some pics of Jefferson north plant with major flooding aswell. My dad lives in garden city and got a couple inches in his basement but it’s unfinished.

Got called into the plant at 10 last night. Road was flooded out for 1/4 mile. Everything ok at home, basement is still dry.

Yea, I am about a mile and a half north of JNAP. It is my understanding that we used to be able to pop a drain hatch into the Detroit River, but the EPA sued us and we can't anymore. So in a roundabout way, I blame Biden!

Well hopefully it’s not to bad for you guys and the insurance company is easy to deal with. I have a Michigan basement with a 8x8 square of concrete for the furnace so not much to loose for me.

I've lived in my home for nearly 35 years and yesterday was the first time our street ever flooded. Fortunately, I don't live at the intersection. I don't think anyone's home got flooded at the corner, though. They engineered the roads to be lower than the homes when the sub was built in the middle 70's.

Basement just finished draining. What a mess.

You know the city has some splainin to do. About 5 years ago, we had a bunch of flooded basements in Grosse Pointe Park. I had about an inch on my drains but that was it. They said it was the "100 Year Flood". We shouldn't be getting those every five years.

The Pointes are blaming it on GLWA - that they shutdown the receiving station. Same old story! Substitute GLWA for Detroit.

You would think with the prices detroiters pay for sewage this wouldn’t be a problem, they claim that price hike was to update the system.

Our canal has been steadily rising all day but fortunately still not close to last year's high water mark. Hopefully we get a break after this system moves through for things to dry out.

Sorry to hear about your basement. I’ve checked mine a few times and made sure the sump pump was kicking on.

We had a half inch puddle in one corner of the basement. Not sure if I blame short gutter spouts or the previous owners who nailed tack strips into the basement concrete....causing cracks around the entire basement. Not sure. Sorry to hear, Geoff!

Thank you for the sympathy guys. Basement looks like crap, house stinks. Ugggghhhh. On the good side I am going to be getting a huge check next week. My agent had me set up with a supplemental sewer backup policy with an extra $25k on top of the basic policy max, plus it is set for replacement value, not actual value which if any of you have heard of is a huge deal financially. I never thought it could happen here. Been here 12 years and never seen anything like this.

Lost a Miller Econotig, Lincoln Sp125+ mig, torch set, three sets of vintage speakers (Magnepans MG1C, Paradigm Mini Monitor, and some old Bose that still sounded awesome), two Carver amps got submerged slightly but might make it, furnace, water heater, washer, dryer, small generator, power washer, gas powered mantis, edger, ping pong table, elliptical, treadmill, recumbent bike, smith machine should survive with some bleach, and a vintage Black Knight Pinball that is probably unreplaceable at a reasonable cost. Not to mention all the random tools and power saws that were on a bunch of shelves that got submerged in sewage. A half a dozen unassembled amp kits from DIYaudio.com. Fuck.

Oh, and if anyone is looking for an LS7 cam, I have one that spent 10 hours submerged but still looks fine! Will trade for alcohol!

Damn dude time to move to higher ground. Good luck with the cleanup. Did you call Belfor yet

Called four companies, no responses. Mostly we just lost stuff. lots of stuff. Just found an LS1 AEM that I forgot I had. It's ruined. My laptop with HP Tuners and Tunercat is scrap.

Tomorrow going to bleach the floors at least and try to make it more manageable. Also going to buy a washer and dryer - whatever my Sargent Guy has in stock!
