I was registering until I read the bottom. Does anyone know if they will reschedule if it rains? It sounds like you'll be SOL.

By agreeing, you agree to all terms and conditions of The Michigan Mile as follows. All fees and funds are final and not refundable. Rain or Shine. All efforts to accommodate participants in these unlikely events will be made as quickly as possible. Capital investments are made well before any show takes place and thus full reimbursement is not always an option. Additional waivers may require signing in person before any team/vehicle may compete. These waivers are for additional insurance liabilities in protection of the event staff, venue and event management companies. You agree to abide by all safety rules at all times while in participation of The Michigan Mile Event. You agree to follow the verbal or written instructions of The Michigan Mile staff and volunteers while in participation of the event. Participants are responsible for their own vehicle. In the case of a vehicle failure or damage, you are responsible for salvage and or towing of said vehicle from airport property. You are responsible for any and all damages caused by your vehicle while on Airport Property. The Michigan Mile is not responsible for any vehicle damage that is incurred during the event.

If I'm going 190, I'd want as much safety equipment as I could get.

Stock cars are getting near or over 190 at this point. Not a lot of people going to chop up a car for what it can do from the factory or with very minor modifications. Anyways, which is safer? A car like the GT with an aluminum space frame that broke the roof crush machine during validation, or one of these glorified bathtubs some dude brings out with some tubing he bolted in? Texas Mile exempted us up to 230 mph.

my uncle was a sheriff deputy shot me on radar on 275 in my 71 trans am at 135mph in 1981
it was a rush

I live near 275 I hear bikes winding up all the time on there ill bet they are doing 140 plus

And after seeing the Underground Lambo that crashed there and the Carrera GT that Paul Walker was in last week, I'm ok topping out at 140 at road courses. The shit hits the fan very quickly at those speeds.

I'm glad our event made it to Motown Muscle, its hard trying to keep track of all the forums. But, i have been an irregular member here for a while and i probably still know a few members.

To answer the question you raised. 1. We will run as long as the air field is safe to do so.We tolerate light rain, but a downpour and the race is off till we dry the track. For many such events, this is the case. You can't do much about mother nature. We only hold our event once a year, so it's impossible to schedule any make-up dates prior to the next event. 2. We won't be rich off this event anytime soon, all the funds we raise go right back out the door to pay the bills associated with running this event. Matter of fact, it cost me hundreds out of my personal pocket, even after all 62 cars signed up last year and sponsors. So, we can't offer refunds or anything like that. This is also very typical of other such events around the world. So, if you have any additional questions, hit me up. [email protected]

I agree. Many cars are capable of doing 200+ mph or near it from the factory. The competition of it all is that your speed must be reached in one mile. It is very hard to do even with a 200+ certified car, they don't tell you it took 5 miles on an oval to get it done. Texas Mile runs an exotic class in which cages and such are substituted because the car was designed to travel at elevated speeds. We have not done that yet, but we only had one car break 200 thus far.

Alex! Man I haven't seen ya since we were standing in line to pay tickets.. is there a facebook page for this? Id like to check it out. I've been getting really interested in top speed/mile racing/ Bonneville stuff

Michigan Mile Postponed (Canceled)

Sent to me 6AM this morning:

The Michigan Mile Cancelation Notice

It is with great regret and disappointment that I must announce that The Michigan Mile is being postponed due to negotiation and contract difficulties with the representatives of Kellogg Airport and the Battle Creek Airshow. The decision to cancel our event was not mutual and we fought the best we could to keep the track open for us.

The Battle Creek airshow decided to cancel our event due to numerous issues and grievances shared between both parties. We engaged in direct, heated negotiations with Battle Creek in order to push what we felt was best for The Michigan Mile and our customers as a whole. Given the size and scope of the Battle Creek airshow, our efforts were in vein as we received the final cancelation notifications two days ago.

Since that time, we have halted our race preparation and switched to salvaging our event and any future events that can still be made possible.

We understand that many of our fans and competitors will be extremely disappointed, confused and possibly angry. We apologize for this situation and we are doing all we can to rectify this situation. We had many of our fan’s make plans to travel from as far away as Texas and Oregon, we understand your frustration and we hope you understand our position and accept our apologies for any inconveniences you have incurred.

We have learned a valuable lesson in regards to resting the future of our hard work in the hands of those who undervalue and under appreciate our event.

Moving Forward

We are optimistic in our ability to create an alternative event and offer race passes at no charge to our current customers. We will not open registration until we have a confirmed location and date. If you have registered in the past 3 days, let me know. We can stop any pending charges before they hit our accounts.

Our closest friends and allies have moved to support us here locally and nationally. We feel that an event for the year can be salvaged; we are self-contained and simply need a race location in the state of Michigan, possibly in the city of Detroit.

We will not update via Facebook or Website. We will be in direct contact via our E-mail newsletters. Send me any Questions Directly
