Anyone cut down trees on the side?

I have some tall dead/dying pine trees near power lines and others near the house that I'd like to have cut down.

Doesn't matter if it is hauled away or not. I just want them on the ground, I can take it from there.

have you tried calling the power company? sometimes they will cut them down for free.

power company subcontracts it out and the Sub K only trims branches. I even asked the guys if they wanted a side job on the weekend. No GO.

I got some trees that line my property that are all tangled up in the power / cable lines... I called cable/phone/electric and no one wants to take responsibility to trim them below the line... Called the 3 times each. I finally told them that I'm just gonna start cutting trees down, if they end up tarring down lines, it will be there problem then.

Had one company give me a quote over $2300.00. I looked at him like he was on crack. for that price, I'll buy the climbing gear and bring the tree down in pieces.

Just had 3 trees cut down, 1550.00 one was over 100 feet, all 3 were close to the house, They removed all the brush and limbs smaller than 6 inches left me the wood that could be used for firewood, If you want the wood hauled out they charge more, price included stump grinding

holy hell, looks like I'll be doing above and having to learn how to do it myself. That's insane.

1550 is cheap for all that. stump grinding 3 trees that big would normally be $400ish...
