Any one had experiance with Modern Cylinder Head?

alot of people use jeff at modern. i have had him do some stuff for me before and he was good. and the things i hear about him are good also

Ive known Jeff for a long time. He used to do his work next door to me, and I would always see their work first hand. Although I known a lot of cylinder hear porters over the years, I don't think I would go anywhere but Modern.

He did the work on the Edelbrock heads on the Aspen. He got decent numbers out of them. My only real complaint was he took alot lomger then what he quoted me. Same thing happended to a buddy. Jeff told him a month and it was closer to 3 :(

he does great work. he has alot of work if you need for the spring take what ever you want to him soon. he is the best i wouldnt go any were els

dont bother with the phone. jeff does good work for sure ! if your doing some that isnt off the beaten path I prefer jack at automotive machine over modern because of the quicker turn around and jack is very thorough .

Fuck automotive machine. My heads were FUCKED from them. I was .001 INTO coil bind at anything over 500 lift. They set up the heads, they built the motor, they degreed the cam and it was all screwed up. My valve guides are smoked, the tips of my valves are mushroomed, and the spacers that they had inside of the spring cup were starting to disintegrate . I called jack and he said " that sounds messed up" . No offer to fix them or anything.

They are the reason my car is down right now. After a dyno pull the oil pressure hit zero on decel .I had "sparkle" in the oil after the pull. Greg powrie tore down the engine and the bearings were all missing material. The rod bearing fell right out of the rods. The oil pickup is bolted to the block right at the pan rail. I told him no fewer than 3 times that you need to double o ring the pickup and use the " right stuff" sealant as well. I pulled the pick up off and the oring fell off because it was the wrong size. It had been sucking air the whole time.

I gave them a pile of parts, told them to machine, build , and set up the engine for 1000 hp. They gave me a lump of shit. They built the long block, all i did was put on the intake and valve covers.

Never again.

Heads

Good luck finding someone better than modern. YES, sometimes he can take a bit longer...Stay on him but...

He is a mad scientist. I have known him since we were 14...

He is a perfectionist.

He does superstock stuff which, for those of u who don't get that...You need to flow the most air with a limited hole....I could make your head flow 400 but you'll have a turd..It is SMALLEST hole with the BIGGEST flow = highest torque and HP... He is a master and one of the best..I challenge anyone who thinks they can do a better job.

PS...he isn't busy cuz he sucks and anyone with his heads / intake makes more power then the next guy...

Have him pick cam and cam timing as well...I asked him where to put my cam and he actually did some equation. He also builds motors and the ALWAYS FLY..

PSS.... I'm just trying to help you guys...

PSSS..I'm certain it was his port in the thunderstang that helped win pinks.......

Trexler~ out

Yeah.... i used to hang out with jeff at night since he keeps weird hours at his shop. When it comes to superstock hemis, his heads are on 7 out of the top ten cars on a regular basis.

If i needed head work done, i would go to modern.

p.s. i know a LOT of street racers have him do heads and build motors for them. Something to think about.

Jeff does great work. A little slow sometimes and that is because he is a 1 man operation most of the time. But it is worth the wait. I was out there yesterday and he was working on a intake for a Super Stock ford FE. If you are looking for something done by the spring time get it to him soon. He had like 30-40 sets of SB Chrysler heads on the floor.

as for automotive machine....You can take your heads anywhere....if maximum power for what u have does not matter....For people like me, I try to run faster than u with less, leaving u wondering WTF u did wrong....hahaha.... Heads cam and intake are the brains... the rest just go around..

Trex..

PS..his heads are on many stock class racers as well...chevy, ford mopar etc... Oh wait... u are not allowed to touch the ports in stock......uhhh...if they can't detect it..lol
