Any interest in a Motown Muscle custom AR15 lower receiver group buy?***COLLECTING MONEY FOR ORDER**

****UPDATE****SEE LAST PAGE(6) FOR LATEST UPDATE< STARTING TO COLLECT MONEY****

Gauging interest here, pending approval from those that hold the power/ownership of the forum and it's logo........................NICK/MATT?

With the political mess upcoming, and the amount of Motown Gunners on the forums, I figured I would see if there was any interest in doing a group buy for stripped AR15 lower receivers with the Motown Muscle logo on the magwell? I can apply for and get a variance run made through one of my manufacturers/distributors for lowers custom made( MM logo and custom serial numbers i.e. "MM0001-MM9999" ) The serial numbers will be sequential, and the logo would be the forum logo.

We would be able to pick our own:
Logo
Model designation
Serial #
Fire control markings.......safe/fire type markings
Caliber designation...I say "multi" is the best route

We can also add matching uppers to the lowers, and make the buy for a matching set upper/lower. There is the option of forged upper/lower, or billet upper/lower. The costs would be approx. $160 for forged or $260 for billet, plus the cost of engraving the Motown logo on them. Just the lowers would be approx. $80 for forged and $120 for billet..........

Plus tax on all prices, and small shipping costs for the entire order which should be minimum.

If I/We can get the blessing of those in power over Motown, and can get a minimum of 25 lowers, we can proceed and I will start the paperwork process with the manufacturer and the ATF for any variance requirements.

If there is interest, then I will directly contact Matt or a board member to directly discuss this, unless they want to contact me after seeing this, and either shut it down, or give us the go ahead....... I figured that it would be cool to do a club themed lower buy, as there is already a bunch of "D" lowers floating around the forum that I have sold.

The sooner we move, the sooner we will get into the pile for approval of the variance, as well as the production que at the manufacturer.

Let's keep all the questions and answers in the thread, so all can see the questions and replies to save posts.

Thanks for looking,
Jason

I am definitely in. I will let the experts shake out what needs to be on it and stuff. Just let me know when to pay!

When you guys reply, let me know what your interested in, as we will have to decide if we are doing:

Billet or Forged
&
upper/lower set, or just stripped lowers

There is also the possibility of doing a run of .308 lowers as well with the logo, depending on how many we get interested in those, but the priority is the 5.56 versions obviously.

The serial numbers will be determined by the amount of lowers we get sold, as they will be sequentially made. But when we get a final build number, I will do my best to accommodate requested numbers.

Typically these GB's turn into a hairy mess, so I am gonna do everything in my power to keep this one simple and easy.

When we confirm our order and get concrete pricing is when I will take payment and place the order with manufacturer. The closer to November we get the longer the wait for delivery after order payment, so I will try to speed things along to get us ordering as soon as possible.

Since Matt is not on here often, I am assuming I will be speaking to Nick or another board member regarding the use of the Motown logo.

Thanks,
Jason

Nick told me it was ok to use the logo for the koozies.

Don't matter to me. Billet/forged lowers or matched.

I'm in either which way.

What is the minimum order?

The mgo disaster was completely barretone and Matt cheely and their lies.

If your making a profit, make it known publicly.

If so, Then also consider a portion be donated back to the club.

I did??

I kid.. I'm ok with letting you use the logo for the folks here on MM. It's sort of like protecting your pet/first born so I like to be selective on what we allow it to be used for. Like my previous ask, I ask that we be very transparent on pricing breakdowns, what folks will need to finish etc. I remember the issue that Anthony had with the guy on MGO and don't want to bring that mess here.

I'll answer all the concerns in order to maintain open conversations.......

OK, minimum order is 25 pieces per item, so if we get 25 billet and 20 forged, then we wouldn't get the minimum order for the custom variance for forged lowers.

No disaster here, i'm not totally informed on the MGO debacle, but my manufacturer has excellent customer service, and lots of satisfied customers. We are just getting stripped receivers here, nothing crazy or difficult, but there is obviously the ability through me to order the remaining parts to complete these receivers into complete rifles, or "contract" me to build you a rifle from your parts.

I do plan/need to make a profit to justify my time invested in doing all the paperwork and ordering, as well as covering uncle sam wanting a cut of all my sales. I don't mind doing leg work and helping out, but can't justify losing money, as the FFL thing is part-time to help out with bills, not cost me money. But i planned on a minimum markup to try and get club members the best deal i can. I can mark everything up with the intention of donating a portion back to the club, or keep markup at a bare minimum, whatever the masses prefer.

In the interest of transparency, i charge $20 for FFL transfers for customers to cover time and materials for paperwork, FBI NICS check, and ATF reporting. If i keep my markup at such a level so that i essentially make that per lower, there isn't room for club donations and not lose money for my efforts. But by all means, i am open to suggestions. That is why i am starting this conversation openly on the forum before i start ATF/Manufacturer paperwork and invest the time to get the order rolling and design work started.

Have no worries, i do not intend or wish to bring any mess to Motown or myself. I figured this would be a cool way for the gun crowd to show off some Motown pride and pick up one more lower before the November $hitstorm.

Thanks,
Jason

On a side note.....

Anthony, do you have a picture or file of the Motown logo that you used for the coozies? That looks like it would work perfect for the lowers, as a basic line drawing is easier to engrave than the version with the checkered background.

Thanks,
Jason

Salvato has the file. I can get it from him and forward it.

So your going to charge $20 per lower / upper? I'm good with that.

I've been first hand in the mgo crap. So I'm only offering advice to avoid it here.

Mgo president wasn't very transparent, and after he had the money, some numbers came out and rumors he bought a ATV with the profits, after claiming it was not for profit, NOT SAYING YOU WOULD DO THAT IN ANY WAY. But be very open with what your pocketing for your time per lower. That, imo will avoid problems down the road.

The manufacturer of the mgo lowers was the greasiest gunsmith machinist to walk the earth...... Till the 100 paid for lowers were all out of spec, parts of the engraving was jacked up, not straight. So they would exchange the junk lower for another round of lowers. Or you could keep them for a fee.

The replacement lowers were purple tinted. And they never made mine! Hahahha

Took over a year from when I paid, to get my money back, and I didn't get all my money back.

I have a guess of who your using, but should tell everyone.

Hmm, been wanting to build an AR. This would be a cool way to start. I'm gonna guess billet is better (and more expensive). Also interested in the multi .223/5.56 option. Might have to try to catch you on Woodward to discuss options Jason. But baby is due Fri so probably not gonna get out for the next few weekends. ;)

The whole MGO thing can be compared to Jelly and APE bullshit... I'm glad I missed that whole thread when it was first started...
