Any HVAC Guys on Motown?

So my furnace is toast. I guess 8 hours submerged in raw sewage tends to do that...

My local guy said soonest he could get in would be late August, and actually recommended me to call around. Also told me that if my furnace was three feet under, it is scrap. As much as I wish it wasn't true, I tend to believe him. Would settle for someone who could just get me a Bryant/Carrier to install myself. I used to know a guy, but they all retired! I have a call in to Aladdin - want to stick with the brand since I have the AC and smart thermostat already.

Thank you.

What is the existing furnace?

I just repaired a friends (Rheem, also flooded in grosse pointe), it just needed a new control board ($115 amazon), all other sensors and blower tested fine. Once the controller was installed it fired right up.

Good point, I actually just replaced my blower motor and control board, got the parts from repair clinic in canton. Blower was $330, control board was $135

I actually just bought a used board on ebay for $55 (seller met me at a gas station in Troy) and installed it, and now the AC is working. For the money, worst case was I still needed a blower, but best case happened - it worked!

I am still probably going to replace the furnace before winter - it was fully submerged in sewage for about 8 hours. It has insulation on the inside as well as all the surfaces I can't reach to disinfect. The AC was above the waterline, but the gas valve, igniters, heat exchangers, etc, were submerged, and the inside has surface rust all over it. I will try to fire it up once I get a little more caught up.

Thank you for the leads, though. I may still reach out for some quotes.

Family Heating and Cooling did mine last November...
yes scrap it ... your heat exchanger will be rusting out fast ...

I looked at them but they like they are all Lenox. I already have a Bryant $500 thermostat and don't want to throw it away and start over. Since I have AC for now, I am going to grab a few quotes first. Telling a place that you will wait until they are not doing emergency work is usually worth a few hundred.

Thank you.

Mike peters, I do not recall if he is still a member here. But if you are still looking for quotes let me know via PM I will get you his info. He has done a few things for me over the years and I will continue to use him.
