Any GM employees or GMC dealers willing to help?

Hi guys,

Kind of a long story...
I was talking to my uncle and my cousin in TN about how things were going with them. My cousin had a form of MD and is permanently in wheel chair or motorized chair that he can drive himself around in. Well my cousin is now 18 graduated HS and is now attending college. My aunt or my uncle have to drive him to school 30 miles each way, and then go pick him up when he is finished again 30 miles each way. Well they have found a way through a company that modifies and fits people with special needs like his to have a vehicle modified so he can drive his motorized chair in and the controls are fitted so he can drive with a joystick just like he does his chair. The vehicle needs to be brand new, it can be a year old, but just never registered. He is looking for a GMC crew cab? (Full 4 doors) 2 wheel drive 2500 series with towing package cloth interior.

My help request comes in the form of helping him out on the price through friends and family pin our dealer generosity, because the conversion to the truck costs just over $100,000. The conversion makes the divers side of the truck a slide out like an RV, by fusing the doors together and then adding the mechanics which will lower down so he can drive his chair on and locks him down in place. It will then lift him and slide back into the truck. They tie into the electronics since everything is that way now and have a joystick mounted inside that is in position for him to drive.

This will be a huge burden off of my aunt and uncle to not have to drive him everywhere and give an 18 independence. He has already taken all of his state required testing, has been approved for a licence and vehicle permit for this style of vehicle, the only pay left is paying for it. The state of TN is going to help with the conversion costs, but he has to buy the vehicle.

It is short notice, since I just spoke with them, but they are looking to purchase right away because the conversion takes a few months and they are trying to be done by new year for TN funding reasons.

Can any of you guys help?

Thank you so much in advance.
Jon

Are you looking for a GM number to get a discount? Or a truck donated? Just wondering, I may be able to get a number from my step dad, but I want to make sure I understand that's what you are actually looking for here.

Sent you a PM, if you just want a discount code I can get you hooked up with a number for supplier discount. It isn't a huge discount but saves a little bit anyway. If you get a 13 truck the incentives are pretty huge right now since the 14's have launched. That'll be their biggest savings.

Sorry if that was confusing.

I am only looking for a GM discount number, to help them on the cost, because every little bit helps.
Is the supplier discount the same as friends and family type discount? Which would be the best for a non employee non immediate family member?

Thanks for the quick response.

Supplier discount would be a little less than an employee/immediate family discount. They just redid the pricing structure of family/friends/supplier/vendor/etc. discounts, so it may technically save you a little more than what it would have last month. And as Brad said, if you can find a '13 model with what you're looking for you'll get a ton off the vehicle in incentives (like upwards of $10,000.)

Great thanks for the explanation

Brad I will send you the info shortly.

Thank you guys!

West coast customs just did a conversion just like this on tv. Fused doors together on drivers side and it slides out with a ramp and the person rides up ramp and then door slides into the suv they put air bag system on it to lower it to the ground it was a ford suv and it was for a wounded veteran.....

PM'ed you a number. The friends and family discount is the supplier discount, yes. That's all we can do for family that is any more distant than aunts and uncles, and even their inclusion is new. They just made some changes to the program but I ran numbers on some things and they didn't really look much different.

+1 for helping him out.

Thank you so much.

I'll post up a video once it's all done.

And as streetracin pointed out it's nice to see people still care.

It may not seem like much to some, but in the end this truck will cost about$130,000. So every bit helps, and is greatly appreciated.

If any of you guys know an unclassified they can extend the actual employee discount to an outsider. They got one certificate a month to distribute. Sorry to be late to the party.

There is a car that is made in Michigan that is designed around wheelchairs... Forget the name but they are by karmonos a lot...I think it's called the MV-1

So my cousin finally got his new truck. Thanks for the help Brad.

Just wanted to share what he bought and how it turned out.

I forgot the name of the company that did the work for him, but they said this was the first 3/4 pickup that they had done. I think they did a great job, and the freedom that he now has is amazing. The craziest thing he said was to be in a vehicle alone. Since before this he was always driven wherever he had to go.

That is fantastic. Great looking truck and the conversion looks awesome. Glad he can put some normalsy into his life.
