i have a detached garage that im looking to put a 220 outlet in and i have 8 shop lights that i need wired to switches and i want a couple extra outlets. i dont know much about electric work but i was told i need to update to 100 amp service? Right now i have 60 amp service I think and everytime i try to use my 33 gal compressor it jus pops the fuse. If someone could point me in the right direction or someone who will do the work for me it would be greatly appreciated.

Can the motor be wired for 240vac? (standard 220v) What is the amp rating on the motor? there should be 2 a start up and a constant... But you are definitely going to have to update your wiring.

thanks for the info BB71Mopar

Soon2B8 if you could get me a number thatd be awesome im looking to have this done soon.

If you are poping a 60amp breaker with a 120 outlet you have a serious problem with that motor.

He's got a 60A panel, and is probably running that compressor on a 15A shared circuit. I had this issue when I lived at my parents' home with a Craftsman compressor and wired up a 20A dedicated circuit, problem solved.
