Any downside to 4.8 in a Mustang?

not really, they are proven to be just as strong as the 5.3 and 6.0
same everything else just less power...add some boost and forget about it!

Consider it a running mock up engine. When you stumble on a bigger short/longblock, swap it un and chuck the 4.8.

Worse that can happen is you enjoy the 4.8.. with a 150 shot.. :)

Any cheap Headers to use instead of Making them or Spending $500+ on them?....I heard S10 swap headers work with a little help

302 headers just about bolt up. just change the flange
ive always read to use 351 headers, not 302. i think for headbolt clearance

and I dont know any S10s that would have LS style headers. Maybe truck manifolds from the same 4.8

im pretty sure it was 351, a quick google search would confirm that.

ls1tech has tons and tons and tons of info on this

imo ford makes great cars, they just lack in the powertrain department. of course there are some exceptions but they cant compete with how inexpensive these motors are.

My fox will have a 5.3 in a couple years... 285hp stock. My bolt on 302 probably makes 250hp? to the flywheel. Add heads and cam, its still somewhere in the neighborhood of a bolt on 5.3L :P. Anyone here ever hear of Parish? and his truck.. what about the Fairmont ;).
I think the 4.8 doesn't like to be rev'd ?? I'd do searches on ls1tech.
