Any 9" axle removal tips?

I have a 9" for my Torino that's out of another 68 or 69 Torino. So, the axles have become accustomed to their home over the last 40 years. I got one axle out with a combination of PB Blaster, propane bottle torch, and hammering. I've spent more time on the other side without budging it at all. Any tips on what to do to get the damn thing out? I don't want to be stuck with an open diff and 3.00 gear.

If you dont have a slidehammer, you can turn the drum around, slide it on backwards then put all the lugnuts on a couple of turns, tapered side out of course, then use the drum as a slidehammer.

slide hammer.
at one time I used one made out of a diff case and axle shaft. damn thing was 40+ pounds....for those stubborn ones.

The brake drum idea was immensely helpful, although I used one of the old 8 inches drums  I tried sliding it for a while but wasn't getting anywhere, so I ran some lug nuts on to the studs, put the drum up against those, but another set of lug nuts on to hold it in place, and then beat on the drum with a hammer. I was able to hit the drum's larger diameter and greater distance from the baking plate with far more force than I could hit the hub flange of the axle and that got it out, finally. The bolts holding the center section in came out surprisingly easy, now I just need to get that separated from the housing.
