Another "what would you buy" thread....

Its a great car...I'd love a AWD Subbie....but I would be disowned by my family if I bought anything other then Big 3. I just couldn't do it. What I do fr a living greatly relies on the Auto Industry, and if my customers saw me in a foreign car it could be bad for business. Something foreign DEFINITELY fits my stipulations...I just can't do it...

thats a shame. i was thinking outback or forester would be the perfect car....till i got to the end. lol.

had a xj loved it only got 16 to 17 mpg but the things eat tires be ready to buy a set every 30 k
my d/d focus wagon 27 mpg city tons of room for stuff in the back fold the seat down even more room
and oh yea it was made in michigan

Cummins 12v

20+ mpg, the engine lasts forever.

The only downsides are the transmissions are expensive once you add power.

My old 96 XJ with a lift and bigger tires (stock 3.55 gears) was a beast. I would definitely say it was quick. It took down my buddies 84 TA with a rebuilt 305 (.030 over) and full exhaust. That TA ran mid 15s I think.

I like wagons. What about a Dodge Magnum? I'd recommend a Pontiac Vibe for mileage and cargo space, but it's really a Toyota and it sucks in the snow. I used to have an Audi A4 Avant Quattro that I loved, but it's cargo space sucked and it's not a domestic.

Impreza Wagon!

outback sport - you win. cheap as shit, and the 2.2L will go forever and ever.

-i'd suggest a jimmy or blazer, but i don't feel safe in those things, lol. whenever i see one, i picture the wheels falling off while it's driving.
-jeeps are sweet, but they get shit mileage (i would actually really like a cheap cherokee sport/classic).
-Explorer?
-Focus ZX3 or SVT? i don't know how much room are in those, but it's got to be like my civic. 30+ mpg, fun to drive and lots of space on the inside with the seats folded down. fwd is shitty, but the good far outweighs the bad. plus, being a domestic they're cheaper.

this is hard with only domestics.

Thanks so much for the ideas guys...keep em comin...

I know its tough with domestics only...

and one more thing NO WAGONS!!!! lol sorry

One last wagon before we give up on them. 94-96 b-body wagon with the LT1. I always wanted one of those.

What about vans like an Econoline?

Crown Vic PI is what you need. 5-7 will find a nice one. My pal scored a really clean 2003 car 90k miles for $3200.

Giant trunk
18/23 mpg
Put a hitch and tow 5000 lbs
4.6/4R70 trans

Get a set of snow boots for it, stereo mods, remote start, tint, and you have a sweet people hauler that will do 140 mph when needed.

Mine was great to me. it always got 20mpg to and from work. Idle so smooth you cant tell its running. I would do 2 sets of 16" mustang rims. 225/55/16 tires or 215's are cheap too.

always had a thing for those cars...would much rather have a Marauder tho :-(

Insurance cost goes up... ~240 hp vs 300.. Expensive rims/tires... It will probably be stole at some point.. No thanks.

Mine had 3.27 gears and I seen 135 the day I bought it from 4Gas$. On I94 with 100k mile shocks.. Bouncey and dangerous on the onramps.
