Another Mustang Project ('66)

I bought this car last summer from the MM classifieds.
Since that time, I put a new built AOD trans in it and had some engine work done. It's your basic 302 with a "cam and intake." The wiring was a mess, so I straightened that out. The goal is to have it back on the street for Dream Cruise, or shortly thereafter.
It should run alright with a moderately built 302, AOD Trans, 8.8 rear end with locker and 3.73 gears. It will have 4 wheel disc brakes. I have a A/C complete kit to install, but debating whether to install it or not.

I bought some OEM NOS fenders, Door skins (previous owner shaved the door handles). Besides that the body is very solid. I'll be trimming the front spoiler back a little to make it look more modern.

I already went through the suspension and replaced anything that was worn out. I got the car sitting nice, then decided to change the rear end. Due to the rear end axle shafts being larger diameter, it will lower the rear a little more. (I might have to replace the rear leaf springs as I previous had to massage the inner wheel wells to fit the huge ass rear tires. The leaf spring eyelet is currently below the leaf spring. I might have to buy a set with the eyelet above the spring to raise the rear a little bit. New KYB shocks all around.

Here are some before pics.

This weekend, I finally got some time to work on it. Took the driver's door off the car and removed the door skin. I plan on having it back on sometimes over this upcoming weekend. I have to get the new fender installed first. I have to prep and paint the underside of them first. Iwent to town stripping some of the paint off. Removed the moldings.

Upcoming weekend goals. fill holes in engine compartment and paint it (without removing the engine).

Wasn't this car on CL last year as a roller ? I remember that paint scheme. It was supposedly freshly painted though, so not sure there.

One day I'll get a 65-66 mustang. It will have a modular in it though ;)

I'm glad that the 8.8 worked out. It looks perfect. Keep us posted, I am partial to the older mustangs!

New radiator installed,
New Brake Reserviour with mew brake lines (mostly)
New Apron Inner fender (both sides)
New full door skins (both sides)
New OEM stamped fenders (both sides didn't really need driver side, but might as well change both so they match).
Body is in Primer
engine compartment is cleaned and ready to be sprayed.

I'm hoping that I can have in paint within a month.
Then bring it home and swap the rear axle
then the exhaust
Then the interior.

I'm praying it will be done by summer. Well, I mean done as in finished, not done as in drivable condition with old parts still in it.

The paint will be close to the color above, but with a larger flake. I opined not to put the stripes back on, even though I like them, I don't know how it will affect the saleability of the car.
