Another LSX Notch build

Here's another LSX Notch build. I scored a 86 fox last fall for a few bucks. It already had subframe connectors welded in, a Walboro 255 in tank, 4:10's out back, and a set of Flow's with a h-pipe. He also sold me some 351w fox headers that I took and cut the Ford flanges off and welded on the LS1 flanges for a set of budget friendly 1 3/4" swap headers.

First, I took a 6.0L LQ4 that I brought from Mid City Truck Parts for $650 complete from oil pan to intake, including the front dress, tore it down, had it machined, and rebuilt it in my basement!

Next I ordered a new set of L92 heads. I also picked up a LS3 intake with the rails and injectors from the shop that did my machine work. Never mounted.

Next I brought a TH400, which I put a shift kit in. I also purchased a stall converter. I used a stock T5 driveshaft and had to use a combination u-joint for the 400 yoke. I hope it'll hold up. Some stangs are running 500rwhp with a turbo using the stock shaft, so we will see.

Next I got this crazy idea to port my heads. I say crazy because the L92's already flow over 300 cfm @ .600, but I just had to see if I could squeeze a bit more out. From what I researched, this is really effective for larger cubed motors, but I hope to stroke it in the future. I hand proted them. Came out pretty good for my first set. I also installed my Manley dual springs using this sweet tool I got for $35 from a local on Ebay. Works great!!!

For some reason the site will not let me upload any photos. Soon as it does I plan on posting more pics of the car and build.

EDIT: Now that I can post pics, here is some of the car before I bought it

And here is one of the freshly rebuilt short block going in

for those of you that assemble your engines in the basement, how did you get it down there, and once assembled, how do you get it back up the stairs?

nice build....but yeah, pics of the car would be nice.

3 guys with gloves, but that was a 440 short block 300 lbs . and i was a lot younger

LOL I did the same thing with my 440. A dolly would help get it in and out of the basement
aye that works good until you ask the wife "wheres the dolly". "Oh i borrowed it out to my brother and he lost it" fucking brother in laws-- how the fuck you lose a dolly

I used a dolly to get the bare block in the basement. I assembled the short block in the basement, then dollied it back up and out the basement. I put the heads on once the motor was back in the car. It was really easy!

Here is some pics of how I made the 351 headers fit the LS heads. I cut off the Ford flanges, and just welded on the LS flanges. That simple. Since these were for a 351 into a foxbody, they were made so that the steering shaft goes between two primaries. This was perfect and I didn't have to modify and tubes on the driver side. I did, however have to on the passenger side due to one hitting the shock tower and the other hitting the k member. After $125 to the welder, for materials and labor, problem solved.

I picked up a new AJE k member for $150, but it was the older style eith the fixed motor mounts.

Next, I used 4.6l Mustang mounts, made a cheater plate to mount them to the 6.0l, and used this setup to mount the engine to the k frame.

I picked up a set of spindles, calipers, and rotors from a SN95 for my front 5 lug setup. I also got a set of 5 lug rear axles. The drums are for a late 80's Ranger since they retain the same brake setup. In the future I plan on adding rear disc brakes. I also did a coilover kit up front with 140 lb spring rate. The car had Lakewood 90/10 in front and 50/50 in the rear when I got it.

I got a set of 18" Zenetti's off Craigslist that were all white, then had them painted black with a red lip. Next I put some Vette decals on them and 6.0L badges where the original 5.0 bagdes went. No mistaken this for a sbf!!!

Here's a few shots with the rims mounted. I still need to get the exhaust hooked up and the throttle cable and bracket worked out before I can take her on the road!!! I could use some paint bad!

I traded my old set of 4 lug pony wheels to a guy who had some new FRPP lower control arms for the front. They came with greaseable poly bushings, and low friction lower ball joints. I also ordered some outer tie rod ends from RockAuto that came and I put them on over the weekend and tightened up my from suspension components.

? Does anyone know of a shop that does a good job for the cast and camber plate front alignment ?
