Another damn paint question

I painted my car today. It looks pretty good too! A neighbor says he has painted cars for years, etc.... I was picking his brain about it and he says I did not use nearly enough paint. I used about 2/3 of a gallon of PPG shopline single stage urethane. Mixing it 4/1/1 should have left me with almost a gallon sprayed on the car. He says I should have used the whole gallon, and I will probably wet sand right through it. I gave it 3 good wet coats.

I pulled off the masking tape about an hour after I painted it too. So did I use enough paint? If not can I re-mask and shoot another coat on it?

Thanks!

Honesty there is no way anyone can tell you yes or no over the internet, unless you placed black/white hiding charts somewhere on the car or a film build panel somewhere with a film strip for each layer you sprayed~then you could have measured with an elcometer the depth of your paint.

Your view of 3 wet coats could be A LOT different from my view of 3 wet coats, on a scale of 1-10 how bad is the orange peel? Is the peel long & loepy or is it tight & pinched?

And NO you cannot just remask and respray, you have to sand the surface with atleast 1000grit wet to get good adhesion
