Alright... Who Installed car stereos in the 90's on here?

I have a 94 Ranger extended cab shitbox. the previous owner said the radio worked intermittently and then one day it just quit.

It has an older pioneer head unit in there, I figured maybe that quit on it. So I replaced it with a cheapo that has usb and aux, pretty much all I care about. It still has no sound. It has a small plug in the that has all 8 speaker wires go into , then it goes to a blue covered wire harness and back through the dash.

Could this thing have some sort of amp that took a shit?

Yep.. IIRC check the rear cab corner behind the jump seat. Don't recall which side.

I found a little information on google....... Not much tho.

Im impressed it has some sort of premium sound.

Shouldn't be hard to bypass.. again this is me trying to clear some cobwebs lol. I think all of the input and output leads are the same colored wires, just jump them together.

Just run new wires from the radio to speakers...

I found the amp and pulled it out, Im going to try and make a harness to bypass the amp.

Sooooo I removed the plug to the amp.



The 8 Bottom pins are the speaker outputs. I cut the power ones off. You can still see some of the corrosion in the area where the power wire came in.



Do you think I could just try and solder on 4 sets of speaker wires and take them up to the back of the radio?

I'm not sure if they still sell them but they used to sell and amp bypass plug
