air conditioning tech

Ok, quick question while we're on the subject, what do you guys do to prevent contamination when you pull the a/c off the car temporarily? I pulled the engine and disconnected the a/c lines, did I just fuck myself?

well since its already apart when you put it back together it will need to be evacuated until its in a vacuum state to get all the air and moisture out of the system.

well guys i went on a trip with the car this weekend and have to say that is the freaking coldest a/c i've ever had in my life. At times it was so damn cold I was getting freezing mist coming out of the vents  It still needs to be evacuated and recharged to be perfect but it works pretty damn good right now...hopefully it holds the charge and doesnt have a leak.

did you at least cap the lines you disconnected?

if it stays open for a extended amount of time, I'd recommend replacing the dryer, but if not, just make sure they pull a vacuum on the system, for at LEAST 30 minutes, and hour would be even better

Just make sure you replace the reciever/dryer if its going to be apart for more then a few weeks.

Yeah, we put plastic baggies over the fittings on the hoses and put rubber bands on them to seal them to the hose as best we could.

Thanks guys.
