The car wont idle sometimes somedays it runs fine but today it started up fine but wont idle, as soon as u take the foot off the it drops and stalls, no sputtering no stuggle nuttin, put it into drive it drives fine as long as u dont take ur foot off the pedal....any ideas?

I had a 93 Grand Am that did the same thing...I just changed the coil packs and the coil pack housing. and i ran like a champ after that

Vacuum leak? spray the vacuum hoses with starting fluid. If the idle goes up, you have a leak.

Check your MAF sensor too

Possibly the intake gasket. Check for oil leaks around the intake. If its leaking oil then its probably leaking air or coolant into the cylinders too.

Change the IAC!

They have a problem with those pos sticking.. milage is about right... if it starts and will run just fine wiht your foot on the pedal then u let off and it stalls.. Aslong as there are no lean codes its the IAC, if you have a engine light and lean codes , short trim fuel change excessive and long trim fuel change excessive codes prob.. then i would think vac leak..

a bad mass air will casue flat spots in accel or surging idles.. and stumbles..

a mass will affect load points mostly very very rarely idle conditions, And almost allways with throw a code... almost

Unless its missing under load or has a ruff chugging idle i woudlnt think that.. plus on a 98 its obdII it would throw misfire codes

Engine would be lean in this case and prob throw lean codes.. plus buring coolant fucks with the 02s and gives you some funk readins which would most likely throw a code..

coolant leak in the manifold? my mom's intrigue did that and would run fine if we never topped off the radiator, but as soon as we would top it off it would start running bad, and then it eventually hydrolocked and we replaced the motor
