so tis the season to get the toys up and running. my blaster has been running like crap. i bought it used with god knows how many hours on it. but regardless.

-compression check against closed throttle 28 psi. open throttle i got it to peg 50psi. oh crap! pull the jug, rods got 2 to 3 mm of axial play and the piston is clearly got 1.5 to 2 mm of play and is cracked. well this is fantastic...

any good ideas where to look for a new crankshaft and piston? i know there is vitos but i was hoping for a closer to home and cheaper bet. also whats a good place to have it opened up .010 and checked for square?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

i think she has had enough of my fat ass pulling wheelies for miles:gr_jest:

call Rob at RDZ Racing.

Tell him Mark gave you his contact info:

you'll likely need the cylinder honed/bored, a new piston/rings and a new or rebuilt crank. Head gasket, base gasket etc...

if you really want to wake it up, toss one of his pipes on it and have him port the cylinders.

You should have side to side play on the piston just not on the crank. Just like a full floater on a v8. Vitos is local. He is in Oxford. He does all the machine work also.

I second this vote. If you going to spend the money, spend a little extra and do it right so you dont have to dick with it next year too. Doing it right, will give you a couple stress free years.

yeah it runs on needle bearing, unfortunately it has a ton of axial play. as if you were to draw a line in the center of the piston right through the rod it deflects 5 to 10 degrees in either side of the line.
