96 to reopen at 5am Monday

My wife works downtown, she is in a great mood. Think she is drinking wine to celebrate. Those guys did a hell of a job on the project. I hope to god they do something to repair the mile roads before winter. If we have another bad winter, they are not going to make it. 8 mile is horrible.

They actually finished way ahead of schedule (November). Dan's got a nice incentive.

About $100,000 a day... but it wont be 100% open, alot of shoulder work and striping needs to get done so a lane or 2 will be shut here and there

I watched the news clip and was waiting for someone to yell, "Fuck her right in the pussy!". LOL.

I spend way too much time on the internet.

MDOT posts video of I-96 opening event on YouTube

September 23, 2014 -- The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has posted a video to its YouTube channel featuring the I-96 public event held Sunday, Sept. 21, hours before the newly rebuilt freeway was opened to traffic. The video, at www.youtube.com/watch?v=Py7rwXToX6A, shows Gov. Rick Snyder and State Transportation Director Kirk T. Steudle addressing the estimated 10,000 people at the event who walked, ran, and biked a 1.7-mile stretch of the freeway.
I-96 was closed in early April to allow crews to reconstruct the 7-mile stretch between US-24 (Telegraph Road) and Newburgh Road in the Redford Township and Livonia communities. Known as "The 96fix," work included rebuilding 56 lane miles of freeway, repairing 37 bridges, reconstructing 26 ramps, and new lighting and utilities.
Details on the 96fix can be found at the project website: www.96fix.com.
