95 gt egr questions ?

my 95 gt is having a hard time accelerating ( once it gets to 2500rpm its fine ) just takes off like a dog , wont spin the tires and has 3.73 gears , from what ive read a bad egr can cause this , im not getting a cel light , the other day i was able to burn the tires all day long at a stop , what am i looking at ? new egr or delete it compleatly ? how would i get rid of the CEL light if i delete it ?

Automatic or 5 speed ? My 95 COBRA was a 5 speed and the tube from the header to the EGR valve was broke so I remover It (a penny fits In the nut to plug them off). I had the EGR unplugged and the car ran well. I think I would un plug It and see what happens. I know on my old 89 GT It ran better with the EGR and vacuum tubes disconnected. Good luck.

thanks , im going to mess with it a little tomorrow ( at work right now ) , so your saying just unplug everything and cap off the vac lines and see how it runs ? ........... if its not the egr what else could it be ?

new plugs , wires , coil , ignition control module , dizzy , everything ignition related has been replaced , also changed the fuel filter and the timing is set to 14* and i run 93 octane and ive ran a few bottles of lucas fuel system cleaner threw the car sence ive had it , car doesnt have cats either , . , i know yesterday and days prior the car was able to burn the tires from a stop and now today it doesnt get balls untill after 2500 rpm
 
Does it have cat converters? What's the coolant temp typically running at? Is the check engine light on? Does the gas pedal go all the way to the floor and open the TB all the way?

Just a few ideas... then again it could be the fact that it's a Ford :haha: J/K my Crown vic is a dog so i can joke! :)
 
no cats , guy i bought it off said theres a 180* t-stat in it , havent checked or replaced it yet thow , it runs normal temp
 
so heres my thought on the egr valve so i dont have a check engine light ( or it may still cause a cel light , not sure ) how about just plugging both ends of the tube and leaving everything else conected ( the sensor and vac lines ) and still leaving the actual egr valve conected to the UIM , or would it still cause the same effect im already having or worse ?
