well, when idleing or driving it sounds like the belt is sqeeling like it needs to be replaced. however the belt is brand new and when i have the good open it sounds like its comming from near the back of the engine area.. round about. now, another thing that may help whoever out is that the clutch has that small spot of play like it should, well whenever i push the clutch in up past the point of play to where it starts to tighten up, the sqeeling stops. or even when pushed in all the way, no sound. only when driving with clutch out or idleing with the clutch out. yes, im a newb to 5.0's.

x3 t.o.b, mine did that all summer, I still haven't switched it yet because I didn't feel like dropping the trans for the 4th time last summer.

hmm, never had to deal with a throwout bearing before. im guessing its the center peice of a clutch disk? if im correct, would i just be better off replacing the whole clutch? i dont know if this is what would be causing it or not, but anytime i get on it at all, after about 3,000 rpm it almost seems likes its slipping, or its bogging because of something. its to hard to judge what exactly its doing.

the throwout bearing is the part of the clutch that rides on the input shaft, and gets pressed by the clutch pedal to put the [resure to the pressure plate

alright, so i might as well just buy a new clutch kit and replace it so i know its done? i got the car from my girls mom which she baught it new, she told me the clutch has never been changed, so i guess i should. it dont feel like it needs to be changed at all. enguages right in the middle and grips good. but not sure if thats whats causeing that issue after 3 grand or not.

yeah, and get the factory throw out, I went with the centerforce and it has about 4000 miles and already squeakin

To be honest it might not be your TOB because I have a '94 GT 5.0 and ive been having the same issue. I thought it was my belt, so I replaced it. (It doesnt really matter but I only have 73,xxx miles) and this is the 2nd belt total ive put on, neither one was "bad" but one when I bought the car and another last week. I woke up today and started my car so I could go to the shop, I let it warm up for 5 mins and come out and in making the noise again, poped the hood and could not pin point where the exact noise was coming from. I didnt have time to mess with it I had to open my shop up early. But I know it not a pully, well atleast I dont think so. Let me know if you find out what it is, and if I find out first I will PM you and let you know. Thanks.

If its coming from that back of the engine.....and pushing the clutch efffects the noise....It is the Throw out bearing......Its a common thing, just throw a new clutch and bearing in there.....your good to go........If it is comin from the front of the engine it could be an idler pulley

If you hear it from the front of the engine also pull off the belt and inspect your pulleys and obersve if there is any play in them. Sounds like your idler pulley may be getting bound up on a wore out bearing. x5 on the throwout bearing!

well i took it into the shop and the mass air flow sensor was dirty. so they cleaned that and it runs like a champ again. only now, i noticed the fan stays on from the time i first start it up till i shut it off. could be wrong, but i dont believe that to be normal. plus, there is something goin on with my a/c pump. it kicks on and then off like every 10 seconds. this is even with the controls completely off. the a/c dont work anyways for some reason. well when driving, everytime that kicks on and off i can feel it bog down the engine every time. so, im thinking about just ditching the a/c unit instead of replacing it. i seen i can either get a a/c eliminator kit to replace the pulley or just pull it out and get a smaller belt . however like i said, im a newb to mustangs so is that basically how it works or is ther more to it then just that? also, what about the smog pump? do i really even need that? i see i can do the same thing with that as the a/c pump. i need some input.

also, yes the shop did say it was my throw out bearing that is skweaking.

You can just take the smog pump and a/c compressor out and just run a smaller belt. There is no need to spend money on the pulleys.

The fan could just be a bad clutch. Put an electric fan in, free up some power, and kill two birds with one stone.

The a/c compressor may be short cycling due to a lack of refrigerant.

Not sure, Ive never messed with an 302 Sn car. It may be a bad fan controller or thermostat if its an electric fan.

whats a ban fan controller? thermostat it could be. ever since ive got it the thing doesnt seem to warm up to what i would think it should. but figured it was just normal. maybe it is.. ill have to look into that.

anyhow, i was out there messin with it some more. noticed it does only kick on and off when i have the heat set to the defrost vent. i got underneath it and unplugged the compressor so it wont kick on regardless what i have my heat set on. i actually prefer the defrost vent so its not blowing in my face or melting my feet. however the fan still continues to run non stop.

umm ok. thats not the problem. the problem is it stays on constant. i can have the heat completely turned off. it comes on early in the morning when i first go to it and only turn the power on. no matter what if there power, its on.
