94 Mustang Project

So it's my first time ever even attempting to make a rear seat delete so I made some cardboard up just to get a rough idea and shape of how its going to go together. I wasn't worried about the edges not being straight on teh cardboard everything was being cut on a big mechanical shear at work from measurements.

here are my patterns on the piece of aluminum I got from work. It was considered dirty because it was the first piece around the roll and wasn't good for making parts with ;) Won't notice the few dings in it plus its a race car not a show car.

Quick pic I took at work bending the angle on the lower section. I think they came out pretty good I left them a little heavy so i can grind them in for a closer fit when i install them. Finished pics hopefully on sunday. Any small gaps i plan on filling with a fire resistant caulk and I'll probably paint it all flat black or maybe semi-gloss black.

Small update I mounted the stainless rings I got for my fender from racecraft today.
Hopefully tomorrow I'll get inside the car and finish mounting the rear seat delete I made.

2 small updates :D

Decided to buy a tig welder its something I've always wanted to learn how to do and I figured with all the small welding stuff i want to do, filling the holes in the engine bay, welding in my trans mount, rails to mount my fuel cell, parachute mount, ect ect the welder will pretty much pay for itself.

So I bought a Lincoln Precision tig 185 with a water cooler.

First weld I felt was decent enough to take a picture of really still just learning I've never touched a tig or mig welder before.
One thing is for sure I'm going to be a fuckin pro at sharpening tungsten. It will be awhile before I weld anything on the car just glad I have a few friends that know how to tig weld for now :D

Second update started mounting the aluminum panels for the rear seat delete. my 1/8 drill broke on me though so I still have a few rivets to put in and then finish filling in the gaps with fire proof silicone. Eventually it will all be carpeted. I think it turned out halfway decent for never doing any kind of sheet metal work before. Just need to make a plate for the hole in the floor board where the stock shifter was and I'll be ready to carpet it.

looking good!!

how much did the welder set you back?....

Picked it up on ebay for $1500 Which isn't to bad for a tig welder with cooler the guy was local so I saved on shipping. Now I just need to learn to use it properly and it's kind of a fun tool to own. Next is a decent air compressor and some paint guns ;) Going to try to get the interior back together first though. My garage is a mess with Interior panels everywhere...

Finished Riveting in the aluminum panels in the rear and also started to make the plate I'm going to weld in to cover the hole where the stock shifter goes. Need a nice place to mount my PPP shifter when i get it;)
Black lines are what I still needed to trim off of it. Didn't take a new photo I'll get one after i weld it in place and then paint it.

Also Ordered my Ozite carpeting. Once I get that hole filled and order the rear piece for above the speakers from scott rod I'll be ready to carpet.

I go threw that every year ;) it will stop once I get the stupid thing done. Now find me someone to remove my windows on the cheap =p
