94 Mustang Project

Started to tear apart the interior so I can paint my roll cage and get rid of all the dead weight in this pig. So far i got 10lbs out with just some foam and rear seatbelts. I'm really curious to see what all the factory wiring harnesses weigh. Stupid head liner the roll cage is in the way of 2 of the screws not sure how I'm going to get them out just yet. Also debating on putting the head liner back in...

ohh also painted my engine limiter for the second time.... First time I got it all painted and dropped it in a bunch of grass and leaves when i went to hang it. Glad I have access to a sandblaster at work. Cleaned it up and repainted it. Rustoleom Hammered dark grey is a pretty damn close color to the powder coating Team Z uses now.

Wheels came in today! Hopefully friday afternoon I can go out and get the tires mounted on them and the car will be rolling for saturday. Need to finish ripping out the interior so i can give the car a much needed bath inside and out.

The wheels look great! Are you happy with the quality? (I haven't seen those up close yet) How long did it take for Champion to ship them?

For the money I think they are really good. I didn't like that a few of the holes still had a small burr on them. Not something most people would really notice but I run a CNC for a living. Other then that the Welds look really good on them. I ordered them threw fastlane motorsports because champion wanted to me to fill out a form and then fax it.... I don't own a printer or a fax machine so I ordered threw someone else. I just want to give people money and them send me shit i dont have time for fax machines and forms lol. Got them in 6 days not to bad for a custom order wheel. The fronts are a lot lighter then my pro stars. The rears are as well although now I need to run a bigger washer or get new studs they are much thinner then my pro stars.

The gutting of the interior has begun. Still had the stock speakers in the doors... Still have to get the rear speakers out of the thing. I was amazed at how much the stock wiring harnesses weighed... at least 18lbs was wiring harness alone.
Between all the wiring harnesses and other crap i have a grand total of about 45lbs in the plastic tub so far. Need to figure out what to do about the glove box door. That thing is FN heavy...
Next is washing 8 years of dust out of the interior and working on getting that sound deading off.
Thanks outlawSS for helping me get most of the panels and dash out!

Started taking the sound deadening crap off the floor boards. Trunk is done and did a small section on the trans tunnel. I'll get the rest tomorrow Also washed all the dust out of the interior got tired of getting completely dusty every time I climbed in the car.

Got the crash beams out of the door today. Actually had to pull them threw a hole in the door and into the fender to get them out. Surprisingly they only weigh about 6lbs each but 12lbs is 12lbs.
Also got a lot more of the sound deadening tar off just 4 more spots left around the back seat and wheel wells and I can weight my garbage bag full of the crap. Then I can start mocking up my cardboard to make my own rear seat delete out of some nice aluminum I got from work.

Finished removing the rest of the tar sound deadening crap. Soooo much work for 12lb's of junk. Also took out my steering column to make way for the new light weight one from race craft I'll be ordering hopefully next week. That should free up another 12-15lbs or so. Also have to look at the dash closely so i can cut some crap out of it. Should make more progress on sunday hopefully start mocking up my rear seat delete and have some fun with cardboard.

Started painting a bit today. Decided to not put the headliner back in and just paint it flat black instead. Next I'll be painting the cage just waiting for the roof to dry a bit more so I can tape it all off to paint the cage. Also going to start mocking up my cardboard to make the aluminum panels for my rear seat delete today or tomorrow.

Roof and cage before paint.

I'll get some more pics later today when I finish painting the cage. Have to get out there and scuff up the existing paint and get the dust off it.

first coat of paint on the roll cage. Not bad for a rattle can, it isn't perfect but It's better then having the cage 3 different colors..

No idea... Came with the chassis when i bought it. I Really want to have TeamZ redo it just isn't in the budget until the car is finished. :(

last picture for the day. More work to get done tomorrow.. Cage is done being painted for now I have to get the front of the top bars but that will have to wait till I pull the windows to put lexan in.
