anyone ever change a 2wd 94 5.0 f150 oil pan? just wondering if i should pull the upper intake or not. i looked on line some say its a must others say its not. input appreciated!

I never pulled the upper intake, unbolt the fan shroud and engine mounts, and jack it up by the balancer, your biggest hurdle will be the exhaust pipe where it crosses under the oil pan, also, on some, you need to unbolt the trans mount and lift the trans up, but I dont think its needed on the 2wd F trucks

I am doing one in my 96 F-350 4x4, had to pull the motor. Figured I might as well go over everything else while it is out.

thats how i was thinking to attempt it. should the exhaust come off? also im guessing everything will just un bolt fairly easy. this is the cleanest f150 i have ever seen. just goes to show how bad those oil pans really do suck!!

Yea, but I have repaired these in chassis and it worked great and lasted for years. It'a a lot less work than pullin the motor and It's easy.

rusty. amazingly not a damn speck of rust on the truck or underneath but amazingly the pan is rotted! supposedly its from rocks hitting it and knocking the cheap coating off the cheap pan.

Exactly. Peel off that cheap ass coating(if there is anything left of it) patch the holes, and recoat it. Here's how I do them.
1] Clean the empty oil pan. (Pan must be completely drained so no oil can bleed out)
2] DA, or hand sand pan everywhere you can reach. Metal must be bare and clean around where it has been leaking. You may want to use some chemical strip on the rest of the pan to make sure you get all of that old coating off.
3] 1/4" thick layer of jb weld over all holes, at least 1/2" beyond hole in all directions.
4] Use Eastwood rust encapsulator on entire pan and then paint. http://www.eastwood.com/rust-encapsulator-27677.html

Its kind of a hack way of fixing it. But it works and it lasts. and it's a lot easier than the alternative.

hmmm..... this just may be worth a shot. its my uncles truck so its not like i goobering up some customers car! lol
