I came across a 92 lincoln 8.8 on craigslist with discs that I am thinking about more my 78 mustang, i have to narrow it about 3 inches, but other that that are those the same as the 8.8 that is in the mustangs? Also are they 5 lug axles?

A '92 would be a Mark 7, if it's an LSC, then it'll have a posi as well. The housing is the same if I remember correctly, but the axles are longer, yes it will have 5 lug, but you won't be able to use the axles if you're chopping the housing.

ok, the listing does say mark VII. i just thought it was a typo. It says its a posi, but i also wasnt sure of the spine size of the alxe either, but since I'll be buying new axles I might buy a true-trac too

It will have a posi if it's an LSC.....I think all '92 were LSCs though, don`t remember for sure. Axles should be 28 spline.

All LSC's didnt have the trac lok setup. I have an 87 LSC and a 91LSC and both of them were open diffs. Maybe all 92's had the trac lok? It wouldnt hurt to pull the cover or spin the axles. probably a 3.27 gear though. Axles will for sure be 28 spline also.
