89 5.0- crankshaft play, not end play?

when i was bolting the rockers down on my engine today, i noticed if i turned the crank in the opposite direction, there is about 1 degree of play before the crank rotates the rods. it causes a little "clunk"

there is some slop in the chain but not a huge amount. its an original timing chain on an 85k motor so whatever has worn it down to the point its at now. is 1 degree of movement enough to have to change the timing chain? i pushed my hand against it when i was doing the rod bearings and it only moves a bit when it tenses up on one side from pushing it down.

this engine isnt going to be running any nos/forced induction, just N/A

I mean im all for as cheap as possible but sometimes you gotta splurge and just buy, or put the project off for a week so you don't take any short cuts and im pretty sure I read before this is engine #3 no offence just do it right and get it done

is this common for ALL cyl. or just a select few?? is there play in the connecting rods to the crank? also is everything torqued to spec?
