Here is what I started with
After a little cleaning and removing most of the parts
Permanently moved into the garage
Got rid of that pesky heavy sound deadening material
And finally fitting some things back on
Need to do some grinding/removing parts to make it work
Its going a be a long several year road but eventually I should have a track worthy Mustang!
I got me a trans (TKO-600)
and a fuel cell
A couple sets of wheels for when she can roll again
I started hacking on the hood, she's down to 35#'s in the picture and I got it all the way down to 25#'s but it will need a hand full of hood pins. Hopefully the engine will fit underneath when I'm done;-) The trunk lid I cut down to 13#'s but it will need several pins as well.
Trunk? We don't need no stinking trunk! Hopefully the fuel cell has plenty of room once I bolt up the IRS:??:
And speaking of the IRS, that means there isn't a need for those pesky upper control arm mounts
After doing all this work, why would I ever put conventional springs on this thing? I guess the spring buckets aren't necessary then:-D:banana:
I'm getting pretty close to needing parts before I can continue, I still need a welder so I can start getting the cage in this thing! I already got the tubing bender at a good price.
I'm planning on a 351W since I already have a good block in the pole barn and a crank for it. I will be using Maximum Motorsports front suspension. I haven't decided on which coil-overs I plan to get yet though. My goal is 2500#'s dry weight once finished. It's going to be several years before I'm finished I think since I don't have a lot of spare cash right now. Hopefully it will move along faster than a glacier though!
