'86 GT Texas car project

i had a 86GT bright (jalapeno) red with Charcoal on the lower half, made washing the car really easy.

should have used SEM 39153 for all the trim and buckets. its as close to the original 86 charcoal that could be found in a can. but overall the car looks really good. the hood decal is easy, soap it up.

the Ponys look SWEET on the older cars. first thing i did when they came out. bought a used set for my 86. dont get me wrong though the 10 holes are the gold standard

thanks guys. i am proud to say that almost 2 months has gone by and i have not purchased any performance parts! i think i am cured of my addiction. all i did was change the oil!

although, in the near future i think i will be buying exhaust, a 3.73 and an eaton posi.

i dont know.... theres oil in the coolant. i am lifting the heads due to the stock bolts. im going to ream in some arp bolts in attempt to hold it down, if that doesnt work, the heads are coming off. not a big deal! i refuse to baby the car haha

lidio told me the stock head bolts and gaskets are the best to run. I was like WTF. Apparently he likes the torque to yield bolts. I'd say get your heads oringed and use studs..

well i dont know about that. those stock bolts sure as hell seemed like they were stretching when i was torquing them down. they are only a grade 5 too. seems like they could stretch more while under 9-10psi and 500hp.

the ARPs seemed solid as a rock. I torqued them all down to about 85. ill find out tomorrow if everything is ok. i hope so :)

Yeah I second guessed that statement, but Lidio is the man so Idk. I have the FRPP head gaskets and ARP bolts so hopefully my shit holds together. I made 522/488 with 12lbs with the same timing and about about the same AFR as yours. Its rather impressive how much these kits are making. Im sure with some more timing and RPM my car would have made close to 600 but the stock block is probably screaming already. Do you have a rev limiter set on your car? I set mine to 5900 to be on the safe side and the power was still climbing on the dyno sheet :w00t:

yeah i know. i didnt have a rev limiter, but it didnt matter, the valves would float at 5300haha. I think mine is making over 500 now that i fixed a lot of bugs. i would like to go back to see. i now have the msd 6AL2 with the limiter at 6200.

i wanted to ask - what does your setup consist of now, besides a stock shortblock and the on3 kit?

Let me know what you guys think. Future plans are just bolt ons that can easily be put back to stock. No race car plans for this one!

:gr_jest:

I have GT40X heads, bcam, and Victor 5.0L intake. The cam isnt the best for a turbo, and the victor intake wants more RPM but Im not giving it anymore. I also have the 6al-2 setup and I limit my RPM to 5900 to be on the safe side. I dont have the loot for a dart shortblock this year

nice! i want to do a dart shortblock with stock heads, cam, and intake. bet the on3 kit could still make 700 lol
