'86 GT Texas car project

Picked up this all original '86 GT a few weeks ago. It's completely bone stock and unbastardized with 80K original miles. It has been garage kept and babied the past 22 years. Got it for $3700 and it was well worth it, it runs and drives like a brand new car, and the interior is mint.

I didn't like the color combination (esp the 2 tone), so I decided to go with GM's crimson red (good contrast with the orig color) and semi flat black on the trim. Pretty much all I had to do was sand the car down and fill in some chips.

The paint came out amazing, I couldn't be happier. This is it right out of the booth.

Let me know what you guys think. Future plans are just bolt ons that can easily be put back to stock. No race car plans for this one!

thanks guys!

my dad has been in the industry for decades, so i got the hookup on paint, bodywork, paint jobs etc...
he keeps it within the family only though :)
total cost of all work and paint < $650 :)

car still needs a little bit of work, i will update as i progress.

needs 10 holes. Ponys look funky on a 4 eye. Other than that its awesome. I am working on an 86 Gt myself. Vortechs and welds should have been stock on all the 5.0s ;)

Cool. Let me know how much of a bitch it is to put on. I also see they make stencils to paint them on.

you cant tell in the pics, but we actually sprayed right over the old one. i was actually thinking about taping off the red, and spraying the black right back on top of it. the decal is actually gray, which would clash with the rest of my black trim. might as well give it a shot... ill let you know it works out for me.

also, thanks for the compliments guys

great job....but I love 2 tone GT's, didnt even know they made a 2 tone before 87. I would have kept it 2 tone, dont see them everyday.

but great looking car nonetheless.
