Hey, I'm the guy that bought the Capri with the infamous Pinks motor. This is my first foray into American muscle (I'm actually pretty new to cars, my daily driver is a pretty modified Mazdaspeed 3 that I learned everything on - I didn't know how to change my own oil 3 years ago!)

When i bought it:

So I bought the car several months ago, but have been really busy with life. At first I just wanted to address some small issues like the headers and steering rack - but I ended up replacing a lot. The K-member was rusty and homebrewed, the steering rack was a power rack and it was rusted onto the K-member, and the headers had a few leaks in them... so I changed over to an AJE member, Flaming River Manual rack, and Dynatech headers. The mounts weren't lining up, so I cut up one of the AJE mounts to get it to fit... unfortunately after I did that I found the homebrewed transmission mount was right in the way of the collectors so I swapped to an AJE TH400 crossmember. I still have to get a new set of mounts and hopefully the motor mounts and trans mount will line up correctly. Working on a 5 lug swap with disc brakes now, and I'm probably making this more of a handling road race/autox car than an all out drag car - so I'll probably swap in a T56 when time/money allows. I've never done any of this, so I'm just learning as I go - hopefully I don't fuck anything up too bad! Unfortunately I do not know how to weld *yet* so it's been slow going with getting this all together and getting the exhaust fabbed up. After everything is on, I'll need to take it to C.A.R.S. to get it retuned (currently is tuned for spray I believe). I REALLY hope the motor isn't a bust since the previous 2-3 people that had it didn't really drive it at all. I've been lurking for awhile, seems like a great community!

I almost had the asking price for the car when James had it then no sooner I decided it was time to look at it I find out it sold. I'm kicking myself for not just getting it. Car looks real good with the new paint.

i hope that doesn't mean there's hidden problems that i should know about? :( or are you referring to the person that won the car and all that drama?

anyone know what the paint color is? i might pick up a front air dam with extensions for it and get it painted.

No I bought the capri from trunkles as a roller about 6 months before the whole pinks car fiasco happened it sat for a while then I put a complete 89 fox drivetrain in it had 2 hook up a few wires then I got a good deal on the pinks car and I put all the good stuff in the capri and crushed the death trap white car,lol

Looks like a nice conversion. I have a 04 truck 6.0LS1 thats going in my notch after i finish some body work. I would love to check out your car some time. I am leaning on doing a T56 as well, there alot of modding to make that work since its a hydrolic setup. Hows it run with the turbo 400 and that monster stall? I am collecting parts for my swap. Nice car

Looks like a good start Derrick. Just keep telling yourself that it'll all be worth it in the end. If you ever need a second set of hands wrenching on it let me know. I don't claim to know anything about LS1s or Fox-bodies, but I can turn a wrench.

i'm not sure yet, i still haven't driven it since it's tuned for spray. as I said, I was planning on just swapping a few things at first to get it road worthy- but I just ended up replacing everything. Probably won't be ready until the spring. I'll sort out the transmission stuff after I've gotten it going. I don't want to drop the money on a trans until the car starts moving :P probably not the easiest way. Hoping I can break even or even trade for a T56 after selling the TH400?

Thanks, will do! :)

i compiled all the pics i could find on here from when 91trunks, mikefastss, jameser owned the car to have a picture history of the car from when it got pulled out of a barn until now: Capri History

some work got done, front fenders rolled (can't do the rears yet because it's still 4 lug and the fender roller doesn't fit), i got the back seat out, and the old wolfe racecraft rear lca's were taken out.

Awesome! Please, please keep this car. I wanted it when it was for sale a few times, but bought a house so I couldn't have money tied up with toys. Really looking forward to seeing it on the road.

thanks! i think i'm pretty invested in it, so i'll probably won't be letting it go anytime soon. unfortunately it'll be pretty slow coming together due to my limited wrenching experience and having to wait for friends that can weld. i'm definitely learning a lot along the way though! i need to get the new subframe connectors in before i can install a lot of the other parts, so i'm waiting on someone to help me weld them in.

a few pics i can email more
