82 El Camino Rear End

Hi have a 82 El Camino has 7.5 10 bolt non posi. Looking to up grade, what other rear end's will bolt right up from other car's ? Or can this be built and hold up to 12s ?

12's might be doable but certainly not bulletproof.

i have a currie ford 9inch housing and axles, 500 dollars firm, brand new no runs,

31 spline axles, new style retainer plates, fully welded, will handle deep into the 10s with a good center section. the housing runs for 990 new off jegs, i dont think it will directly bolt into a elky but if your able you could easily fab the mounts up. i dont recall flange to fllange was like 55 inches i think.

The 7.5 rear is far from durable. I would find a used set of GN axles (28 spline), and a posi from a 4th gen Camaro/ Trans am. That will last a while running 12's. I've read that a Mustang 8.8 can be swapped in also.

thats what I would do, at least upgrade to a 8.5 and go from there

Hi all that's what i was looking to up grade to a 8.5. But was checking to see what was out there and that would bolt up.
