82 306 in an 89 mustang

They're not batch fire, they are sefi....I'd also say that maybe even 86 87 is as well, but not sure of that. Maybe you were talking to a GM engineer about the IROC-Z, they were batch fire....

Nope...worked at Ford test track in dearborn with Ford engineers. Thanks for your thoughful isight and smart ass remark, you wil fit in well here.

LOL ENOUGH with the arguing. its really not helping me with my question.

i figure. if its a H.O engine, with a 50 oz crank and everything is pretty much the same exept for its a flat tappet engine. i dont see why it can't run mass air, and be hooked up to a A9L EEC in my 89 mustang and run okay, just with a different valvetrain. if i am wrong someone please correct me. i just want to have an engine that i can put an intake, tb, and injectors on, and hook it up and go. thanks

Remember how great your car ran before you let big head jimmy touch your shit? Been downhill ever since. lol

yeah i know, now hes trying to suggest i work on the engine that we put in there. i dont know JACK SHIT about this engine all i know is it makes funky ass tapping noises in the left bank, leaks oil from the oil pan and coolant from either the front intake seal or the timing cover, and that this engine was sitting for 5 years prior to being ran. at least we took it apart and cleaned it up. but i like how i was told to put the heads on my wrecked engine with possible valve damage (the ones that are on it now) and scrap the heads that came with the engine instead of cleaning those up. good job!

i just wanna get another engine and take the roller block i have and work on it while im in college at northwestern ohio. anyone hear of that auto tech college?

The answer is above. According to Rack em Rack Willy, it may or may not run without tuning. I've seen people get away with it just fine on a mass air style computer, even with a flat tappet cam. I've seen others have surge issues until the eec was retuned. It seems like it would be easy to find a cheap, stock, EFI 5.0 engine, I thought there was one for sale on this board recently for $150 or $250.

im not looking for stock though. i kind of want this one to have some mods on it. its freshly rebuilt and set up for boost. it has an upgraded cam and its running a low compression 8.4:1 with probe pistons

plus the guy im buying it from is selling it at a great price, and throwing a ton of accessories in as well. he just wants the engine gone because hes putting a 3v 4.6 in it

im also considering just getting some good stock, or gt40p heads for the mustang i have now, and just putting the motor back in that i have... i dont think i need to go with another engine. idk i just keep debating with myself.

Whats the cost on the shortblock? you might be better off just getting a decent used roller block and a set of decent heads imho.

That 8.5-1 compressions gonna run like shit NA. Find a complete motor- dont tear it apart with BHJ - have someone that knows what they are doing put it in and drive it. You dont want stock but you also dont have the "help" to help you deal with anything else- Who tightened down the rockers after you guys pulled the heads? That could be your noise. Im guessing all the problems you listed withy the last motor you bought are from you guys pulling it apart. Shoulda just stuck it in and ran it.

If the 82 302 has the correct firing order (5.0 ho) And the correct distributor (302 non ho.) and you are sure It Is 50oz It should drop In and be plug & play !

So are the dizzys different for an 82? I have my stock 89 dizzy I know it has a module on it for the computer. So I don't know if I can use that but I saw comp cams sells a gear that is compatible with them all.

And I went and did the correct adjustment pattern for my rocker arms, bled the lifters, put them all back and I still have a tapping noise in my left back, in the same area.

To be sure contact Comp Cams And ask them. If you have the wrong gear It can wipe out one of the gars and sens steel shavings through your engine.
