80% Receivers

I was thinking of getting an 80% Receiver and fixture. Is any one brand better than the other? I've seen polymer ones, too. Are those 3D printed and will they fall apart when you go to use them?

I'd like some real world comments from people who have actually worked with them before...

Thanks in advance....Gary

Polymer, same as Glock or others which are polymer. I've got on AR that uses the ATI lower, it has an insert for reinforcements, its decent...
If you're looking for a huge variety of decent stuff, check out Palmetto, they have and make tons of parts.

Thanks for the info - I guess I was asking about the quality of the aftermarket polymer receivers. I know the Glock (among others) hold together, but as you know, sometimes companies will take the easy way out and 3D print something like this with a cheap printer, which isn't the same as a real molded piece...

Just my .02....grr

Gotcha, I wouldn't mess with anything that's 3D printed...Maybe a one time use.
The ATI AR I have is decent though, everything Palmetto besides the lower, it's reliable and a small amount lighter than the standard AR.

What's the budget?

I dunno hadn't really thought about it much - Looking right now, and I would guess there is more than one in my future.

But, I saw these for pistols which are cool. I really like the AR stuff, probably because I was in the military. They have sooooo many options and I like the pistol options a lot. Really cool.......

I got rid of all of my guns several years ago but after seeing my friends collection and now you can make them, I think I may just make a few. Even though I haven't been shooting in a long time and may never even shoot these, I still like guns similar to the way we all like cars and trucks. Just the cool factor...

Any questions post away... I'll answer when I can for ya

Thanks, Reiko......

I start a new job on Monday, so after I get my first check of disposable money, I'll be buying something. I am an engineer and know quite a bit about working and speeds and feeds. I do have a small type mill and tooling (end mills), so I don't think I'll need the $200 jig, but we'll see.
