8.8 hot tanked...?

Is it worth it?? A stripped down axle housing would be very easy to clean with a can of brake cleaner and a few rags.

More or less looking to shed as much rust as possible before POR15'ing it while cleaning the inside. Plus, I'm lazy and didn't wanna take the wire wheel to the outside. lol

International Paint Stripping Inc - Romulus
They can acid dip it for cheap.

Or if it's just the center section (no axle tubes), then call your local machine shop. They can clean it like an engine block

Powercoaters all oven bake & media blast the housings.
Along with the paint, it will give you the results your looking for.
I would suggest doing all welding and any modifications to the housing before hand.

Back from the dead thread. I was going to have it powder coated, but I already got all the supplies for the por 15 and I begun that route. Not going to weld the tubes up or anything. It will never run slicks nor ever see over 500 hp.

I have a 8.8 housing. Tubes are welded and has the 9"
ends weld on by team z. Sold off all my cars. I have 300 into the work and parts I'll let it got for 200.

When I had my rear end apart i had it blasted and powdercoated. Honestly its worth it, powdercoating stands up to alot more abuse than por15 does, you can jack the car up and put stands under the rear end and not have to worry about it damaging the paint. Over here I paid around $100 to have it blasted and powdercoated black.
