so i have a 71 cutlass s, drove it until a month ago, parked it and covered it. went out this morning to let dog out figured i start it for a while. it cranked, i pumped some gas and it backfired out of carb, turned the key again heard a noise, now when i turn key i get no power.no radio or oil pressure, no battery guage nothing. anybody know what i just fucked up lol. btw its a 70 350 rocket.

i havent messed with it. i dont have many tools, ill pay a mechanic to come over and figure it out. it wont get driven until atleast march anyway.

yea i can do certain stuff, like i turned my efi mustang to carb by myself, but certain stuff i just dont know. i have a socket set and it usually gets me by. but ill go out there and ticker when i get some time. thanks guys, i appreciate it.

Dont worry its nothing major bro. You can get a backfire if its real cold out trying to start a carbed car. Get that volt meter and we can walk you through it.

Typically, if you watch the papers, HArbor Freight gives away those volt meters with a coupon. I'd get one and then check everything over again. The good news is that those electrical systems are pretty simple (compared to nowadays) so it's probably like was said earlier, blown fusible link or something on that order.

You can hotwire that car easily enough under the hood and then work backwards.
