My dad has a 67 stang that he finally wants to build, it currently has a built 289 and runs good but with the high compression he doesnt drive it he wants to go big block and possibly spray. I have a line on a 1973 mercury marquis with a 429 for $150 basically ill get the engine trans and rear end free after I scrap the car. but the question is, is the 429 worth building or should we just stay clear of the 385 family and go with an fe probably a 390. I dont think he's looking to spend a ton on it but just build a nice street strip car.
Thanks in advance

I think the 429 would be a tight fit.

I think it would be cheaper to build a 351w.

Even if you don't go the 429 route I'd still pick up the Merc. For $150 you can't go wrong.

I was thinkin to go windsor but he wants a BB lol I was doing some reading and it doesnt look like the 429 will fit. I'd pick it up but I already have a challenger I need to get rid of
Does anyone have a hookup on a nice 390 built or not?, perferably not
