(CORRECTION 1968 Fastback)

Guys-

I need a bit of help here. My family has a 68 Fastback mustang, that is a fairly complete roller. so no engine, no drivetrain, no wheels.
It has the complete body, looks like full front suspension, and the car has been stored inside on its brake rotors for what must be 10 years.
No major rust issues that I know of, though it will clearly need to be prepped and painted. It has most of the glass, and some of the interior.

What do you think something like this is worth? ballpark?

It was my father in law's project that he never really managed to start on, and sadly he recently passed away. So now we have to look into either selling it if there is decent value in it, or I may keep it and eventually finish the car the way he would have done it.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Depending how much rust is there?? $2000 +/- a few hundred. 67-68 is the year everyone is looking for.

I've seen ones that need pans etc. go for $5k plus on ebay (rollers). It kind of depends on what it was originally. I still don't think $4k would be out of the question...there have been fastback roofs/partial bodies going for almost $2k. With the market the way it is, maybe they've slowed down a bit, but check ebay just as a reference.

Thanks guys. Thats good info.

I looked around on racingjunk.com to get some ideas, and Im seeing a HUGE variety of prices and conditions of vehicles.

This helps, and its good to know that the 67-68 are more popular, which is what it looked like to me as well, from my bit of digging around.

I hope to get a better look at the car this weekend, that way I can assess the condition a bit more...

Overall, $2K probably isnt out of the question then huh?

$2K? What VIN is it? Even as a roller, bare as it is....you'd be surprised what that would be worth to a true collector (not just another douche scooping up a fastback to make a gay Eleanor clone :shake:). Wish I had the money...I want to build a fasback so bad!

I may be interested in this car depending on the price. I would really like to add a fastback Mustang to the stable.

thanks again for the insight guys.

Yeah, I really need to assess the car in greater detail so I can be up front and honest about potentially selling it, or keeping it. I just need to look more closely.

I hate to let a car like this get away from me, but the family really could use the cash... so Im on the fence.

Post some pics when you go see it, that may help. Also, grab the vin. There are vin decoders online that will tell you what the car was/is. I paid over $2k for my 67 fastback several years ago. Depending on what interior pieces it has, it will be worth something. Like the rear trim pieces or fold down seat (if they weren't cut up with speakers etc.). If you have any questions, shoot me a PM.

Well, I went and looked more closely at the car this weekend, and after really digging through it, I found that MOST of the trim, and misc. parts are there. (from what I can tell)

I was actually pleasantly surprised at how complete the car was, since I really never looked that closely before... After digging through the piles of parts inside and in the trunk, I found that there was more there, than was missing. I really though that the car was basically a body, and all of the assorted parts would have to be sourced all over again, and I found that to be a very daunting task, even just thinking about it really sucked the life out of me...

But now, I think I have decided to keep it. Granted, it is a huge project, and at this point its more like a giant jigsaw puzzle, since there are SO many pieces, and I didnt take them off the car, so I dont know where they all go. Im sure I will figure it out, but still, its a huge undertaking. Especially considering that I have never really worked on, nor owned a classic like this, so this is going to be a very cool learning experience.

I guess I need to hit the bookstore to start getting some reference materials...

thanks again for the guidance guys, Im sure I will be asking for more help eventually, once the project gets underway.
