Anybody have a step by step how to change a 89 5.0 EFI car into a carb?

I just bought a 89LX that was stopped halfway into the conversion. I would like to get this motor running for now.

carbed intake and carb, dura spark ignition or change over to some sort of non-computer controlled ignition, bypass fuel pressure regulator to use the stock style pump. I thinks that's about it. Anyone else?

There was a thread on this within the last 6 months, search for it it will have more info I'm sure.

see if u cant get ahold of last months issue of mustangs and fast fords, they have a full step by step ironically in that issue

ive got that issue if you need it...oh and as for the cam you wanted..id go with a solid roller....pm me for more details

this carb converstion is such a hack job. I'm just ripping it out and starting over. So many wires have been cut and bla bla bla so i'm getting another harness and doing it all over. I'm going to be just swapping the accessories over to the 351W and i'm going EFI instead of carb.

I"m probably using the 302 stock heads for now until I find something better.

no they will not work...get at paul pare. hes outlaw 50 on here i think. hes a great guy to deal with and he had a nice set of heads for like 350 bucks

ok ok, I'll look him up. Sounds great to me.

Now can you claify why I cant use those heads. I have heard some poeple say you can, you just need to switch head bolts to 1/2 inch and bla bla bla. Is it because i'ts not a "roller motor"

And whats all the work that needs to be done to use those heads (i'm not going to but i'm curious.)

well the biggest thing would be the head bolts....you would have to open all the bolt holes up to 1/2". and on a cast iron head..its not gonna be easy. and also you would be hurting performance sooooooo much goin with a 302 head on the 351. thats why everybody puts the 351 heads on there 289's and 302's cause they flow more....

ok exellent. Thats what I have been reading.

I just want to close the motor up so I get no rust. but i'm keeping those cylinder walls oiled up.

as long as you keep a thin layer of oil or even a wd-40 type liquid you wont have to worry about any rust. and id try to turn the motor over by hand every couple days or so to rotate everything and keep it nice
