I bought a 2000 2wd sierra that had no reverse. I bought reaction sun shell kit and installed it. Everything went surprisingly well. The tutorial I have been using said that when the input shaft is spun clockwise the output would spin clockwise and when spun ccw the output would spin ccw. The problem I have is it only does this clockwise. When spun ccw the output doesn't do anything. Before the installation of the pump if I spun the drum itself ccw the output would spin ccw. The tutorial said if this happens the input drum assembly was assembled incorrectly. I never took it apart to begin with. I have good endplay and the shaft spins like I would assume it should. So is the transmission assembled wrong or?

Thanks

Your tutorial is wrong. Spinning the input shaft and trying to compare what the output shaft does is kinda illirevent since the clutch packs are not applied. Your relying on the drag of the clutch pack to spin the planets. What would you expect the output shaft to do if the transmission shifter is moved to park?
Catch my drift?
Two things are important here. One, that you can spin the input shaft "by hand" once all bolts are tight holding the pump down. And two, that you are able to spin the output shaft (using chanel lock plyers) in both directions. Clock wise it should be harder to spin. If its locked clockwise, the band is too tight.

Thank you, you're a scholar and a gentleman. I just didn't want to lie on my back and fight it back in there only to realize I had done it wrong.
