first off this tranny has 210,00 on it and it was police used...so that is a feat all its own...when i bought the car it had 185,000 on it and the tranny shifted crisply..hell a 4,200 pound car chipring the 1-2 (just a vette servo) shows me that the tranny was working well...about 1000 miles ago i put a quart of lucas tranny stabilizer in there...almost instantly i noticed results..only they were adverse...as soon as i put in gear the tranny was slipping...it would rev and it would barely move..during WOT 1-2 shifts it bounces the rev limter now...then shifts to 2nd...the shifts arent as frim anymore...

whats going on?...i know the tranny will have to be replaced soon but why did added the lucas cause this?
 
if it was a police service trans, it was probably beaten and fluid not changed. It was happy running with shitty fluid and the introduction of the lucas made shit let go. Just a guess.
 
A coworker had the same problem on his high mileage car. It ran fine until he had the trans fluid changed to prolong the life of the trans. But it just caused problems and he had to get it refreshed. I have heard that if you keep up on the maintenance, that changing fluid is no problem. But if it has going a long time, it is probably better to leave it alone.

see thats the thing, this wasnt a "persuit" car it was a sherrifs personal take home car, so it never really saw heavy duty...one of the first things i checked was the tranny fluid..it was bright pink..the guy had about 2,500 worth of work thats been to it in the last 100,000..one of which was a fluid flush (aamco) that was done 6 months before i bought it..it was taken care of..
and evne now the fluid is pink.
i also have a TC issure i believe..when i dirve in 3rd gear it acts like it wants to shift to OD then doesnt...or at hiway speeds in OD itll stumble and act like it wants to go into Drive...
