4 cars stolen around Dream Cruise, including Papa Johns camaro

They found out who owned it and how much press it was getting and dropped that thing like a bad habit.

I think this stuff only informs people's perception of Detroit if they are clueless.

Anytime you get 1 million people and 50,000 cars, many of which arrive in poorly secured trailers, in one geographic area, car thieves are going to steal shit. Same shit happens at SEMA. I'm honestly surprised it's so few.

easy to do when there's trucks and trailers everywhere.

That guy called into Dave and Chuck the Freak yesterday morning telling people to keep an eye out. Kid is a broke college student without money to buy something else. Sucks that happened to him.

You'd think he'd have full coverage insurance or at least comp on it for stuff like this. Being a diesel, I'd bet it isn't the cheapest truck out there for a college student to buy.

Mom was talking about vehicles that were stolen out of trailers at Goodguys in Indy. My cousin's Road Runner was stolen in KC. It happens at big events in cities all over. But it happens in Detroit and to the wrong car and it ends up as national news and gives the city another black eye.

That's how it goes. I remember in WWDC's past, you'd see something on the news about a car being stolen and never hear of it again. This year, the Papa John's Camaro gets taken, and the news is all over it. I remember last year, maybe the year before, a numbers matching '65 Vette convertible was stolen in Birmingham, it was just a small snippet on the news and nothing more. A $60,000 numbers matching car gets stolen and nobody blinks an eye. A $20,000 car anybody can build in their back yard gets stolen and everybody loses it.

I remember one year at the Halloween classic at Norwalk guy came down on Saturday with a totter home and stacker trailer with a pro-mod in it. Monday night someone tried to steal it, Norwalk rules on leaving with entire rig at the classic is Sunday thru Wednesday morning when racing starts, is you have to show proof you actually own the vehicle (at least it use to be) guy could not prove it and got mad and just left, Track called state police they pulled him over about 5 miles from track, and off to jail he went for grand theft.

While I don't wish anyone's car to be stolen, it's not hard to get an agreed upon insurance policy value. I'd rather not have my car be returned after being stolen.
