4.6 swap question..

I have a 2000 3.8 V6 Mustang and I want to know if I can drop a 1998 4.6 V8 (Mustang) in it?

Are the mounts the same?

Will I have to change out everything including the rearend?

Also the 4.6 is auto tranny and I have 5 speed?

alot of work? Can it be done?

Well let's see, you will more than likely need (i'm sure they is more)
1)Modular k frame
2)Drive shaft for the auto
3)trans cooler and all the lines, and cross member
4) rear end could be an 8.8 but you may have to beef up the r&p,posi carrier,axles
5)Fuel system may need some modifications


anything can be done, it depends what it's worth to ya? For the price of a used gt you may have that much into it?

well I want to stick with the 5 speed trans

I just know where there is a 4.6 motor and trans is for dirtcheap..

any time you do a motor swap you should own a donor car that you can gut. sometimes a junkyard will sell you a whole car with a salvage title. if you find one that has been hit from behind you can rip the whole front suspension out of it, and the rear end, and fuel lines, all the electronics, brain, etc.

then have the car scrapped. if i didn't have my 5.0 car to do my 4banger conversion lying around i would have spent a hell of a lot of money at junkyards getting all the little crap i needed.
