Hello i am wanting to build a 383 stroker but i also want to be able to get the wheels of the ground, Is this possible? I plan to put it in a mustang(please leave your opinons out about a chevy engine in a mustang). I plan to do the aluninum heads, the whole 9 yards, How much hp am i lookin at roughly?, Thanks (sorry for spelling errors still tired lol)

you can make plenty of power with a 383, just make sure you use good parts I would do alot of research ,cam and heads are gonna be the key here.

And traction lol. Car has to have a working suspension under it or it's just going to spin everytime.

Suspension will be worked on after the motor, What heads and cam should i use? i plan to use a scat 9000 stroker kit with forged pistons and crank

Blue thunders! Lol I would build a LS base motor using a iron 6.0l block and a nice set of afr heads ported by tea alone with a matching intake. Cam depends on what you want to do as far as boost or spray or N/A. Look in the projects section and that will give you some more ideas on what you can do.

Or u could do a 408 W with afr heads, solid roller nitrous cam, 12:1 compression or more, nice intake and carb, and a fogger and run a awesome number For cheap. There are a few guys on here that have under 10gs in a foxbody and motor am drivetrain that have ran some impressive numbers.

I agree with 05cesrt, after building my 383 almost 10 years ago while in high school, I'd completely do an LS-based swap instead now.

Just build a windsor based motor, do aluminum heads and a nitrous kit and your going 9s no problem.. my mustang has team z lower arms and the rest is factory stock and I went 10.20s and it would hook on the street...and I did that with a pump gas low dollor 393 on motor.

After reading your other thread. I would chill on a motor swap for a while. Save your money so you can keep it maintained. A motor swap with all the extras is gonna be way more than you figure. After years of pulling apart cars myself, heres the one golden rule Ive learned.

Dont yank a part off to upgrade until you have the new part(s) in hand. Its way to easy to get into "project mode" and tear a car down without having the money to put it back together.

X2 Ive made that mistake

I seen the pics of your car on your other post. If all you want is to pull the front tires off the ground just do some suspension work and some more bolts ons to that 5.0 and you will reach your goals without a major engine changeover and breaking the bank.

I dont plan to do a motor swap to the car in my other post, Me and my dad plan do build a street/strip car, The build will be over time and i plan to not start building until i have all the parts.

Being another young gun myself (I'm 21) don't be afraid of used parts!! I've based my whole build on used parts and I plan on going mid 9's on spray. My last setup witch was a edelbrock cam a set of gears and a really heavy foot I was pulling tires off the ground in ww.

Used parts is deffinatly what u planed to use lol, How far did you get the tires off the ground?

Drivers side was 6 inches tops pass maybe an inch. The car also had some eBay control arms and frame ties but it was a great feeling knowing that my setup cost me maybe $1000.
