Hey Fellas,

Can anyone identify what these 3 bolt holes are used for on a 351w block, passenger side?

If you look close, #2 and #3 seem to have a flat area around them... Didn't know if they were used during assembly at the plant, of for some other functional use. #2 seems to either never has been used, or it could be a plug that's rusted through... and that's my concern, I suppose. Are they used for anything, and /or are they plugged?

And, what about #1... it's near the timing cover. There's actually a something in this hole. It's either blocked off, or it could be a bolt broken off... it's hard to tell, and that is my concern with this one.

Trying to get ready to build her. Been collecting parts for a couple of years. Doing the final clean today, followed by the paint, and then assembly.

Anybody know the answers to these? I'd be so very appreciative !!

Cheers!

EDIT: With a further look, I'll take a stab at some guesses...

#1 - Dipstick tube bracket holding bolt?? (the timing cover a dipstick tube entry very near this bolt)
#2 - Ground strap??
#3 - Throttle Linkage??

Can anyone confirm whether these are correct, or have the answer? What are these used for in your functioning car?

I'm converting a previous 200ci car to 351w, so these may be a couple little things like these that seem odd at first (because they are different from the I6), but may be obvious to you guys. Thanks a bunch.

Thanks for your reply 1nine84GT. With #2 either never been used, or rusted through, I wondered if it might connect with the water jacket. I bet you're right. I'm going to take a real close look at it and maybe stick an extractor bit in there to see if I can get a bite and get anything out of it. I'm pretty sure (now) that #1 is for the dipstick tube. I'm going to try to drill and extract it. But I think #2 is tied to the water jacket, as you stated. Thanks again!
