I'm trying to plan a motor for my '93LX. I have my 302 block from the car. I finally decided on a 347.
I read the article in MM&FF (Sept 2010). They ran 10.0:1 compression ratio and made a little over 450 hp and 435 lb-ft with a Comp Cams XE274HR. Sense the stock block does not live long over 500hp this sounds like a good cam for me.
Ok I should of put this first. The cars plan is mostly street and a few trips to the strip with Speedy (if he will let me go) :ohwell:

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Also I would like to hear what worked for any of you.

Honestly If your building the car up from scratch as in dont have any parts yet 351W>347 stroker. Just find a decent roller block and you'll be in better shape then building a 347. In the long run i think it will end up being cheaper and you'll have a block that can handle a bit more HP before breaking.

I have a 351w but it is not a roller ('74). I was thinking 351w then the new Boss blocks came out. I really really want one of those with a turbo (the dream). So I just need to get back on the road with something for the next year or so. That way I can save for the new motor and drive. I've seen the LMR 351w short block for $999 and could run that with the new heads, but my wife will freak if I buy another motor. No one wants the non-roller and I don't know enough. My dreams exceed my ability.

I can get pretty good pricing from trickflow. If you want a top end kit. the conversion lifters ost money but the strength upgrade from the late model 302 block to the 70's 351w block is pretty substantial.

Can you tell me what parts I will need to make the 351w a roller. Also what machine work needs to be done.
Thanks
Kyle

i've got a camshaft innovations in my 347 and have no regrets. awesome cam. but i've also heard those new comps are some of the best ots cams you can get.

For sure! If you ever get it running lol

There are a lot of good people on this site with great knowledge. I would just use the 351 you have with some good heads on it for now. Then work towards the "dream". Actually once its running you can always sell it to buy a turbo car already done and proven for cheaper.

You need a roller cam roller lifters and roller rockers I would have the blocked honed out and some one to install your cam bearings if you've never done it before
