32 man-hours spent detailing my ride: 50 pics + write-up

SVT - there are some awesom threads out there that show how crazy detailing can get. While this was 16 hours with two people, it should have been around 3-4 less than that in actuality.

Herbie thanx! and if you need a recommendation - I know an AMAZING detail in PA

WWHHHOOOOAAA Stinger- sorry bro, you must be the only person I haven't gotten back to yet. Sorry about that!

The Man - pretty much. I don't doubt people can go to Jax for a wax job, or just do it themselves. Hell, I even offer free information to whatever car care questions people have. You pay for my skills, knowledge, and product use. I've even helped people pick out their own products to do it themselves free of charge. Even if you knew exactly what pads and polishes you'd need for your car (and didn't by extras because you know exactly what will work), you'd spend well over $400, and still have to put the time in to do it right without damaging your paint/trim

I'm not going to lie...I am actually annoyed and angered by you car detailing abilities. Truth be told, I think it's all fancy camera work. You're gonna have to do a full free-of-charge once-over on my car to convince me. :D

Yeah, the one I saw was on some weird forum. It was a forum from a different country too. The guy looked like he spoke no English...and he was getting silly with this car. Cleaning calipes with a Q-tip, just absolutley detailing everything. As soon as he touches the brakes, the calipers are gonna be a mess.

Right on Crazy Al ;) If you want we'll at least do a test section on your car to show you what it'll look like swirl/defect free!

Joelius - our pop-up tent is only 10x10, but has truly been awesome. In these warmer months and days of no clouds; it's a must.

SVT - check out autopia.org for a bunch of big name pro's doing crazy work. The type of job you're describing sounds like show-car prep which can get REALLY crazy depending on how car a client wants to go. I hope I land a job like that sooner than later :)

so how much does that cost? is it cheaper if you dont take all the pictures? seriously, nice work and attention to detail, but it is a car after all....

I'm not a forum sponsor (we're trying to work on that and we would like to sponsor, but we're not yet) and can not / will not discuss cost in the open.
Additionally, this is my car. The cost was product usage.

thanx! I don't quite understand the second half to the comment though...is it because after 70k miles I gave her a thorough cleaning and refreshing? Or am I not supposed to clean my car/spend money on it? :headscrat

I went to that sight. This guy is nuts. Look at the write up and the pictures this guy took. I think that took longer than the actual detail.

^ ahhh the Rick & Ryan 1-series job. Photos go a long way and the more skilled a detailer is in photography, the more they're able to capture and convey. Of course this only helps when you have the skills those gentlemen have in the first place.

One of the guys thats a motivation for me is Todd Cooperider of Columbus, OH. He was even named top detailer in the mid-west by one auto magazine. Well not only is the guy good, but he's an outstanding photographer.

and even crazier... I still visit this thread every now and then. Amazing work that shows just how far detailing can go:

enjoy ;)

^ I like to follow some of Todd's details as well. Not only does he do amazing work, but his write-ups are well written. Sure wish I had that talent!
