3 pedals..... should be a fun ride this year!

6800-7k is my shifting rpm.

I would plan on letting it out around 6500+. This will help get some tire speed out of it to keep the engine RPM up.

If it's not face-plated or pro-shifted, let me know how it shifts at 7K. When I told Liberty that I was planning on shifting mine around 7000 RPM they told me it would shift like shit. I didn't believe it, so I called TTC and they also said that anything above 6500 RPM and I was going to have issues shifting it. So I paid Liberty to face-plate it and it was a good thing, because it shifts smoother and smoother the higher I wind it up. last year I shifted it at 7400 and this year it will get shifted at 7700 RPM.

Ya, I pretty much plan on doing some mods to the trans as this is what people are saying needs to be done. right now I just want to get it driving. I wont be racing much this year anyways so maybe in the fall I will send it out. What is the charge for something like that and does it effect normal driving?

i shifted my stock t-5 trans that wasnt pro shifted at 7500 all the time a few times i took it to 8k.... the problem i had was the clutch, i ran a centerforce and sometimes it would fuck up at the rpm, the other one i had before the centerforce would stick to the floor at high rpms sometimes...

I can't remember the exact cost off the top of my head, but I think it was around $500 for everything. You should give Liberty's a call to be sure though. I had 2nd, 3rd, and 4th done. It is definately a little noisy and sometimes makes a clunking noise if you are cruising in gear, let off the throttle, and then stab it again (not near as bad as I thought it would be, in fact its barely noticeable). Also, shifting it just cruising around town will take some getting used to, as well as getting used to down-shifting it. The down shifts are the fun ones, and sometimes noisy.. These things a minor annoyances that you will get used to, but the benefits are incredible. Hell, I was impressed with how it shifted at 5500 RPM and never expected it to get better, but when I wound it up to 7500 RPM I could not believe how effortlessly it went into gear. You will not be dissappointed.

I have never bothered using a T-5 for anything but a means to get more money for a different trans, but I have heard of a few people winding them up pretty high. As for the clutch, Spec and Anderson FMS have similar clutch designs to each other and they get a lot of feed back from NMRA Pure Street (Diaphragm style clutches only). Pure street cars see 8000+ RPM so I figured I would consult a few of them for clutch recommendations, and I have never had an issue with the clutch not wanting to dissengage. Spec has been a great company to deal with, as they are willing to work with you, to get you the clutch to do the job. This year I may be switching to a hybrid disc with an aluminum pressure plate to keep the car from pulling nasty wheelies and eating up power. This 5 speed shit is fun!!!!!

I ran a Spec Stg. 3 with a Gforce in my Pure Street car and never had any problems. There are people running Centerforce, Spec, ACT etc. in the class.

Once you go with an alum. flywheel, plan on launching approx. 500rpm or so higher....
